THE DEPARTMENT: IT Electric Operations
The IT Electric Operations department at PG&E is dedicated to providing innovative technology solutions that enhance the efficiency and reliability of electric operations. Their team works closely with various departments to implement and maintain systems that support asset management, work management, and operational excellence. By leveraging cutting-edge technology, they aim to improve service delivery, reduce operational risks, and ensure the safety of our infrastructure. Their focus areas include the integration of SAP PM, SAP EAM, GIS, and other specialized tools that support the lifecycle of electric utility assets, including distribution poles, transmission towers, and substations.


THE POSITION: IT Business Analyst Leader
PG&E is seeking an experienced IT Business Analyst Leader with a strong background in Electric Substation asset management and Electric distribution work management. This role focuses on supporting the Service Planning & Design (SP&D) functional area, working closely with business stakeholders and IT to manage multiple, complex technology projects. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of estimating processes, tools, and methodologies, and will be instrumental in driving process improvements and re-designs to achieve business objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand and analyze business objectives, processes, and resources. 
  • Lead technology projects supporting SP&D employees and contractor workforce, with a focus on estimating and new business initiatives. 
  • Provide expertise in Electric Substation engineering tools and technology, including CAD and Design tools. 
  • Develop and implement strategies for effective Electric Substation asset management. 
  • Utilize knowledge of estimating tools (EES, O-Calc, Smart Connect) to support project planning and execution. 
  • Ensure efficient management of joint pole assets, activities, and technology. 
  • Identify opportunities for process re-design or improvements to enhance business performance. 
  • Serve as a liaison between IT and business units, ensuring alignment and effective communication. 
  • Provide guidance and support to project teams, ensuring successful project delivery.

THE RIGHT CANDIDATE: QUALIFICATIONS/PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

  • 5+ years of relevant consulting and/or industry and functional experience.
  • Proven experience in Electric Substation asset management.
  • Strong knowledge of Electric Substation engineering tools and technology (CAD and Design tools).
  • Experience in Electric distribution work management.
  • Working knowledge of estimating processes and tools (i.e., EES).
  • Familiarity with joint pole assets, activities, and technology.
  • Prior experience as an Estimator within electric distribution or transmission projects is preferred.
  • Experience with projects such as pole replacement and creating new meter setups is a plus.
  • Prior experience or familiarity with EES, O-Calc, and Smart Connect.
  • Experience in roles such as Job Owner or clerk would be beneficial.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
