The Director, Trade Strategy & Sales Planning leads the development and execution of Savencia Cheese USA sales strategies with key customer partners in the US. This position has responsibility for the development of Trade strategy, guidance, and deployment within Savencia Cheese USA and will be responsible for coordinating, communicating, and executing the annual Sales Planning process. This critical role helps to translate category vision and strategy into clearly articulated category fundamentals, working with cross-functional partners to improve impact with customers. Interacts cross functionally to develop promotional, price, shelving, merchandising programs, and implement them with accounts. Reporting to the VP of Sales, this role is a remote sales position, although the ideal candidate would reside close to a major US airport.
Essential Functions:
- Serve as a key member of the Retail and Food Service Sales team.
- Assist in the development and execution of category growth plans for Savencia Cheese USA in alignment with overall business objectives.
- Formulate category management strategies focused on merchandising, assortment optimization, placement, pricing, and promotional initiatives.
- Support in the preparation and delivery of detailed category reviews, incorporating relevant data insights to drive informed decision-making.
- Lead the development and execution of our trade strategy. Provides guidance and direction to the sales team to ensure trade dollars are driving performance aligned with annual plan.
- Assist in presenting strategic insights and recommendations in various forums, including customer meetings and internal discussions.
- Stay updated on market trends, competitor strategies, and industry best practices to inform and refine category strategies.
- Serves as liaison between Marketing and Retail Sales as well as with other cross functional departments in the execution of key Savencia Cheese USA initiatives.
- Execute Shopper’s Marketing plans, monitor budget and calculate ROI in collaboration with Marketing team.
- Serves as a go-to resource cross functionally for sales and trade marketing inquiries.
- Support the development of brand plans (objectives) by providing trade marketing insights.
- Analyzes current base pricing conditions to ensure optimal price at shelf.
- Develops speed-to-shelf objectives.
- Develops and maintains “library” of information for Sales Team and Broker Partners.
Travel: This position requires up to 25% travel. Frequently travel is outside the local area and overnight.
Required Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business or a related discipline.
- 5+ years trade/customer marketing experience in consumer-packaged goods sales organization.
- 5+ years of direct sales.
- Solid understanding of Customer Management Process.
- Strong understanding of Food, Club and Mass Channels.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
- Strong knowledge of syndicated data (Nielsen, IRI).
- Promotional planning/analysis experience.
- Ability to perform ROI analysis to create best practice strategies.
- Self-motivated, confident, energetic, and creative.
- Strong administrative skills (multitask preference and highly organized).
- Good communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization.
