Role purpose
Our Business Intelligence teams deliver due diligence, investigations, dispute support and commercial intelligence to help clients make informed business decisions and identify any issues that might pose a risk to them, reputational or otherwise.
Researchers are responsible for conducting open source intelligence (OSINT) research, retrieving and analysing public records and producing high-quality written reports for our clients.
Role tasks and responsibilities
Research and analysis
- Conduct thorough OSINT and public record research and produce high-quality analysis that addresses clients’ key questions in both Chinese and English.
- Identify potential sources of risk to clients.
- Provide guidance to Consultants on the availability and cost of public record information and advise on the optimum research approach, including social media research.
- Review and improve the sources of information accessed by Control Risks, including identifying new tools and techniques.
Report-writing
- Work closely with Consultants to produce high-quality, client-ready reports (typically 10-30 pages in length) that help clients to make decisions.
- Ensure that all reports are delivered according to agreed deadlines and within budget.
Marketing and business development
- Conduct research and prepare material (e.g. client or sector briefs) to support marketing and business development activities.
Requirements
Essential
- Passion for OSINT research
- Excellent investigative research and writing skills
- Ability to summarise, process and communicate information clearly
- Ability to think critically and unravel complex information
- Keen interest in political and business trends across Greater China
- Understanding of common commercial transactions: IPOs, M&A, JVs etc
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task
- Strong work ethic
- Fluency in English and Mandarin
Preferred
- Experience in use of corporate, media and other specialist databases
- Experience working within professional services
- Experience in conducting complex research tasks and producing associated reports
