LTA Research and Exploration, an aerospace start-up, is seeking a motivated Software Engineer to help build a revolutionary ‘lighter than air’ flight vehicle. You will work within a dynamic engineering and design team to plan, conceptualize, rapidly prototype, test and implement innovative solutions for the design, fabrication, and assembly of large experimental flight vehicles. We believe in fast-cycle development and approach to flight systems development with the motto "build a little, test a little, learn a lot". This unique position allows for hands-on leadership through all phases of development, from concept to flight of an experimental aerospace vehicle.
We are seeking a passionate Software Engineer to help further the development of software for various systems as well as actively test and validate rapidly developed software on the Airship.
Responsibilities:
- Finalize and Decompose Software Requirements, Design and Implement software in conjunction with other systems to Verify & Validate repeatability and reliability on the Airship.
- Support development of software to meet quality and timing requirements.
- Develop comprehensive test sets for validation and verification of released software.
- Develop and establish requirements for associated Simulator software.
- Create and maintain Simulator software design documentation and test reports.
- Lead Software Release for testing purposes and final usage on the AirshipSupport Software Change & Merge Request, Software Review, etc. part of Configuration ManagementSupport Software Engineering team-members and related activities as and when required.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams such as Pilots, Systems Engineering, Software engineering, GNC engineering, Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering, etc.
- Support training activities
Skills/Qualifications:
- BS in computer science, computer engineering or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in a similar roleProficient in Windows and Linux environments; C#, C++ and Python, scripting languages
- Proficient in GitLab based CI-CD software build toolchain and release
- Knowledgeable in common software validation practices and standards
- Detail oriented and well organized with excellent communication skills
- Self-Starter as well as a Team player, with a can-do attitude and a desire to learn.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
- Experience with aviation standards such as DO-178
- Experience in working with EE hardware interfaces such as sensors & actuators
- Experience in working with PLC systems
- Basic front-end and back-end software architecture-based development

The base salary range for this role is $135,000 - 162,000, which is determined based on experience, geography, and qualifications. The base salary is one component of the total compensation package, which includes a very competitive annual bonus, 401K Match, and other generous benefits.
