The Nielsen Marketing Cloud (NMC) helps publishers, advertisers and agencies with targetable audience data for programmatic advertising. We connect leading online publishers with advertisers, ad agencies and ad networks who seek to create a more interest-tailored online advertising experience.
We are looking for a Director of Engineering who likes to work on cutting-edge technologies in an environment that gives you the autonomy to explore, learn, and adapt.
This role combines technical expertise with leadership skills to successfully deliver software products while mentoring and supporting the Architecture team. It will lead the data strategy, architecture, design, development, and implementation of our end-to-end data products.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of architects engineers
- Ability to transform a user story/concept into a working scalable system
- Be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, effectively manage priorities, and communicate progress
- Drive the adoption of DevOps culture, principles, and practices across the organization, promoting collaboration, automation, and continuous improvement
- Ensure the availability, performance, scalability, and security of backend systems
- Support the implementation of applications that are fault-tolerant, scalable, and resilient
- Suggest and implement best practices and architecture improvements
- Collaborate with all technical teams to ensure the integrity of technical designs and features within the platform
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
- At least 10+ years of IT architecture and development experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Apache Spark in Scala, Apache Airflow pipelines in Python, Git, SQL, Java
- Experience with Microservice Architecture, establishing standardize/reusable architectural patterns, enterprise integration, messaging solutions, Data Architecture
- Experience with continuous deployment tools (ie GitLab pipelines), Bash programming, and Docker/K8sExcellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to present in front on business users and executive management
- Experience with Cloud Native Applications, preferably in AWS
- NICE TO HAVE SKILLS
- Certification for AWS
- Master’s degree in Computer Science
- Experience with SBT (build tool)

A reasonable estimate of salary range for a new employee to be offered this role would be between $66,000-$225,000 which would be adjusted based on each employee's geographic location. The position of each employee within a compensation range at Nielsen is dependent on several individual circumstances, such as experience, training, certifications and other business requirements/needs
