A newly created role, we are looking for an experienced and visionary leader to join our organization as our very first Head of Group Data Strategy and Analytics. You will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with our business objectives. This role will report into our Head of Group Finance.
 
You will lead a team of data analysts, drive innovation in data management, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, actionable insights that support decision-making across the organization. The Data & Analytics team is responsible for empowering internal and external facing functions to deliver successful outcomes through actionable insights, across the whole Group.

This role is based in Sydney, however we would look at candidates in Melbourne and Brisbane.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with senior management to define and implement data strategies that support business goals.
  • Identify and capitalise on opportunities to leverage data for driving business solutions and initiatives.
  • Oversee the identification, validation, enhancement, and automation of internal data sources.
  • Lead the consolidation and integration of data from multiple sources, ensuring data quality and consistency through automated validation and cleansing processes.
  • Design and implement a scalable and flexible data architecture that enables real-time insights.
  • Leverage existing tools and systems to automate reporting frameworks and streamline data analysis.
  • Ensure the accuracy and reliability of automated reports through rigorous testing and validation processes.
  • Optimise the use of data visualization tools, dashboards, and predictive analytics to enhance reporting capabilities.
  • Provide training and ongoing support to end-users, ensuring they can effectively utilize automated reporting tools.
  • Collaborate with risk & cyberteams around data governance frameworks to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Implement quality assurance processes to monitor data accuracy and consistency
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data analysts, providing guidance, feedback, and fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage resource allocation and prioritize projects based on strategic priorities and business needs.
  • Promote a culture of data-driven decision-making and best practices across the organization
  • Articulate data driven insights in a digestible manner to influence the thoughts and actions of others, and add value to commercial decision-making.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in data analysis, with a focus on data strategy development, data architecture setup, and automated reporting.
  • Experience scaling and developing a team of data analysts, with potential individual contributors to manager-level direct reports.
  • You have strong project and program management skills, having led mid-to-large scale data transformation projects.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present findings clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences, including senior stakeholders.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Python/R, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) preferred
  • Solid understanding of data governance principles, data management practices, and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA)

In this role, you will be responsible for articulating data-driven insights in a clear and compelling manner, effectively influencing the perspectives and actions of key stakeholders. Your ability to present critical analyses with confidence and professional credibility will be essential in driving strategic decision-making across the organization.
