THE ROLE

We are looking for an Ecommerce guru with a deep understanding of Shopify platforms and strong client partnership skills. This role will plan and lead discovery processes for new ECommerce builds and guide DEPT® clients to success. 

  • Participate in sales calls, pitches, and provide real time solutions for clients
  • Speak with clients to understand business requirements and translate those into design and technical requirements
  • Experience with full end-to-end enterprise scale eCommerce builds on the Shopify platform.
  • Deep understanding of the full eCommerce ecosystem, including but not limited to (OMS, PIM, CRM, CMS, Middleware, Inventory Management, Payment Gateways, Email and Marketing Services…)
  • Design and execute all features of roadmap Define and document the actions needed to close architecture gaps in support of business objectives
  • Incorporate best practices to design effective strategies and assist internal team to implement strategy and analyze all information
  • Collaborate with internal teams for implementation recommendations
  • Oversee Ecommerce strategy development across multiple projects
  • Research market in order to discover new trends and technologies in order to improve website performance
  • Wholly own all technical content (architecture and design), integrity, and quality of the solutions for all aspects of the eCommerce build
  • Address compliance requirements in collaboration with IT and Legal, including but not limited to Payment Card Industry (PCI), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Personally Identifiable Information (PII), California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA)
  • Provide technical leadership, direction and mentorship to other technology team members

The ideal eCommerce Technical Architect at DEPT® is a seasoned Shopify engineer who likes talking to people and has:

  • Experience managing a globally distributed and/or remote team
  • 8-10 years' overall experience, including 1-2+ years leading a team of developers
  • 5+ years' experience in a eCommerce development role with an emphasis on strategy development in a digital agency environment
  • 5+ years' experience with Shopify, including a deep understanding of the Shopify platform as well as the Shopify app ecosystem, Shopify themes, Shopify APIs, and Liquid template language, Oxygen and/or Hydrogen 
  • 3+ years' experience in defining new architectures and driving an independent project from an architectural standpoint
  • 2-3+ years' experience with:
    • Agile methodology and working closely with project managers to plan sprints, flesh out tickets and organize releases
    • Working with clients to turn business requirements into technical specifications
    • Laying out technical documentation both for internal developer team and client handoff
    • Proven track record of technical leadership roles delivering solutions within defined timeframes.
    • Code reviews, continuous integration, and test driven development
  • Proficient in technologies such as service-oriented architecture (SOA), messaging, object-oriented programming concepts, legacy infrastructure platforms, and technologies, and enterprise service bus required
