This is an exciting opportunity for a research assistant to join a fast-paced, growing moonshot research organization. We are seeking a highly organized and dedicated Research Assistant to support our ongoing studies in immunology and neuroimmunology. This dynamic role primarily involves conducting behavioral experiments and performing surgical procedures on rodent models, as well as assisting with sequencing and cell-based techniques, all contributing to our research efforts. You will have the opportunity to learn new techniques and work closely with molecular biology, sequencing, and computational scientists.
Company (currently in stealth) is a biomedical Focused Research Organization studying the hidden causes of chronic disease. Our work involves cutting-edge research at the intersection of immunology, neuroscience, and behavior. This position is ideal for candidates with a strong interest in these fields, coupled with exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Research Tasks
- Perform and monitor behavioral experiments with rodent models
- Perform surgical procedures
- Support animal husbandry tasks in compliance with institutional guidelines
- Assist with FACS, sequencing, and data analysis
- Conduct in vitro experiments as part of ongoing research projects
- Maintain detailed records of experimental procedures and results
- Coordinate with other lab members and collaborators on research projects
- Maintain and update lab protocols and standard operating procedure
- Assist in data collection, organization, and analysis
Organizational and Planning Support
- Coordinate and maintain schedules for experiments, lab equipment usage, and research-related meetings
- Organize and maintain research data and files
- Prepare materials for meetings and presentations
- Contribute to laboratory maintenance and organization
Qualification
- **Experience working with rodents required (mouse or rat)**
- BS or MS in Biology, Neuroscience, Immunology, or a related field (MS preferred)
- At least 2 years of hands-on research experience, such as mouse behavior or molecular biology
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong record-keeping abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Passion for breaking barriers in immunology and psychiatry
Preferred Skills
- Experience with behavioral testing (strongly preferred)
- Familiarity in rodent surgical techniques (strongly preferred)
- Familiarity with molecular biology techniques
- Experience with basic in vitro techniques
- Basic data analysis skills
- Experience with cell sorting techniques
- Knowledge of immunology principles
- Familiarity with psychiatric disease models in rodents
