The Patient Advocacy Lead role will contribute to the achievement of the Group’s strategic goals by developing and overseeing the implementation of an Americas patient advocacy strategy and framework. As part of the global Investor Relations & Corporate Communications team, this role will work collaboratively across multiple departments to ensure that patient perspectives are integrated into various aspects of our operations including with the regional leadership team, medical affairs, marketing, market access, clinical and regulatory affairs. The role will also engage with other parts of the business - to build and maintain regional patient advocacy initiatives that support the business throughout the product development pipeline. The Patient Advocacy Lead will be a key driver in fostering relationships with patient advocacy organizations, building trust, and advocating for the needs of patients throughout their journey.
Key Accountabilities:
- Advance an Americas Patient Advocacy strategy, taking into consideration the highest priority / highest value needs of the business overall and create a framework for regional implementation.
- Development of Americas strategy for patient advocacy reviewed and updated every six months and aligned to corporate objectives.
- Have leadership responsibility for our patient advocacy efforts in the region
- Partner closely with clinical, medical, marketing and commercial to champion the role of the patient voice in driving our decision making and strategy
- Champion the voice of patients across all forums within the company – helping bring the outside in, and identify opportunities for our teams to interact more frequently and meaningfully with patient advocates
- Assess and determine the appropriate resourcing needed to continue to build patient advocacy and engagement as a key strength and differentiator for our company.
- Develop a best-in-class model and process for understanding the needs and expectations of the patient's journey.
- Lead patient advocacy group engagement in the Americas and represent Telix at these forums.
- Define and deliver clear metrics to measure advocacy efforts and support the building of a leading patient organization that is well respected by collaborators and advocacy partners.
- Leverage patient insights from patient community and liaise, incorporate patient perspectives into all appropriate initiatives, including disease education programs, clinical trial design, research collaborations, patient services etc.
- Build alliances and manage relationships with external stakeholders (patient organizations, advocacy groups) across the Americas to gain deep understanding of patient needs, challenges, interests and opportunities.
- Participate and represent Telix in cross-industry multi-stakeholder initiatives and collaborations on patient engagement, positioning Telix a thought leader in this space.
- Develop patient access and support strategies for the Americas, including expanded access program, patient materials and patient support.
- Create and maintain patient information resources and an up-to-date knowledge of clinical data to aid in proactive education and responding to patient questions
- Establish patient advisory boards / ensure integration of patient perspectives into product advisory boards and clinical trial design.
- Develop patient access and support strategies, including reimbursement navigation, expanded access program and patient support.
- Develop compliant strategies to ensure healthcare professionals and patients are educated and aware of compassionate use / expanded access programs.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., life sciences, public health, communications) required
- 5+ years of experience in patient advocacy, healthcare communications, or related roles within the biopharmaceutical industry.
- Demonstrated understanding of patient advocacy principles, practices, and trends.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven ability to think strategically and develop and execute advocacy strategies and plans.
- Experience working cross-functionally and leading initiatives in a matrixed organization.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements related to patient engagement activities.
- Flexibility to travel as needed for meetings, conferences, and events - up to 50%
