Position Overview:

Be a part of the fastest-growing business in the art market.

We are seeking a resourceful and ambitious Collector Engagement Associate to handle outbound prospecting to collectors with the goal of sourcing paintings for the Masterworks collection. Using our proprietary collector database, your job will be to reach out to collectors and pitch them on selling to Masterworks, convincing them to listen to offers for works in their collection.

You will become an expert on the Masterworks pitch and work collaboratively and cross-functionally with other teams, including Private Sales and Research. This is the perfect opportunity for anyone looking to grow into a specialist position.

You Will Own:

  • Building and engaging new collector relationships via all means at your disposal!
    • Fire up the phone, WhatsApp, WeChat, Instagram, smoke signals, etc
    • Create buzz with newsletters, webinars, social events
  • Mastering multiple tools to keep yourself organized and on top of your relationships from Hubspot to Airtable and beyond
    • Tracking your progress, pipelines, and success
    • Regularly scan our client list for 'lost' contacts and re-engage them
  • Collaborate with a team of experienced specialists to get deals done with your clients

The Ideal Candidate:

  • 4+ years of experience at a gallery, auction house, or with an advisor
  • You love Post War and Contemporary Art and have foundational knowledge
  • You get energized by speaking to and meeting new people. You are extremely outgoing
  • Experience with outbound sales, a big plus
  • You are comfortable adjusting as you go! Testing what works, discarding what doesn’t
  • Polished verbal and written communication skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail

Measurements of Success in the First 90 Days:

  • Familiarize yourself with the Masterworks business model and be able to explain it to collectors
  • Getting fully up to speed on Masterworks’ list of 60 artist markets and our value proposition to collectors
  • Successfully maintaining relationships with Masterworks' fine art clients and collector base alongside the Acquisitions team
  • Hone your pricing skills and join regular pricing sessions to understand how we value blue chip works
  • Getting up to speed on how to provide feedback to business partners on paintings they offer to you

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in the NYC office.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US - no exceptions.
  • Must be available to work full-time

How does Masterworks think about compensation?

The compensation range for the role is $70-100k (inclusive only of base salary, and exclusive of other potential competitive benefits such as on-target commission, bonus payments, and equity). Our ranges are very broad to accommodate all types of candidates and encourage growth. Specific compensation offered to a candidate may be dependent on factors such as education, experience, qualifications, and alignment with market data. Exceptional candidates may receive salaries outside of the posted ranges.
