Under the direct, on-premise supervision of a licensed occupational therapist, provides occupational therapy treatment procedures to an assigned inpatient caseload.Maintains an orderly environment in the occupational therapy treatment areas.
ClinicalReads and reviews the medical record to understand the patients diagnosis, precautions, goals and treatment plans. Asks questions regarding unclear information.
Performs Occupational Therapy Interventions including activities of daily living, therapeutic exercises, therapeutic group interventions, dynamic therapeutic functional activities, aquatic therapy, and other strategies allowed under COTA licensure act under supervision by the occupational therapist.
Can treat patients in any setting in the hospital, including the ambulatory network.
Evaluates the patients response to intervention and documents patient progress in the chart.
Instructs patients and parents in home programs including exercise, bathroom transfers, self-care/independent ADL programs, and school re-entry home programs.
Informs the occupational therapist of progress/problems with specific patients.
Performs care coordination tasks associated with patient care, including communication with hospital and community providers, tracking of medical equipment, etc.AcademicMaintains current skills and knowledge by identifying own learning needs, both formally and informally, to practice a lifestyle of life-long learning.
