About the Team

The MMR Data Science team is highly ambitious and forms a core strand of our central business strategy. Our global team of 60 staff comprises software engineers, data analysts/modellers, statisticians and consultants. Our internal software engineering team has developed a series of class leading, tech-enabled solutions that we view as essential to equip us with a constantly evolving competitive point of difference.

We are expanding our team and looking to recruit a Senior Data Scientist to assist in the design and development of custom solutions that fulfil business and client needs. This is an exciting opportunity where you will have the chance to work on green field projects as well as existing projects. Whilst we do have an office in Bangkok, the role is hybrid working arrangements.

 

Requirements


As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be an expert in multiple aspects of data science and machine learning, with a proven track record of leading projects and mentoring junior team members. We are looking for candidates with 5+ years of experience, 4+ years with a relevant Master’s, or 3+ years with a relevant PhD

Required

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in a quantitative field such as Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline. A Master’s can substitute for up to a year of work experience and a PhD can substitute for up to 2 years of work experience.
  • Proficiency in Python and terminal (Windows & Linux).
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming and best coding practices.
  • Extensive experience with building AI/machine learning solutions in an enterprise setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of machine learning and deep learning frameworks and libraries, such as scikit-learn, PyTorch, transformers, OpenAI.
  • Ability to model both structured and unstructured data alongside comprehensive model evaluation, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to develop comprehensive training sets which embody high-value proprietary data.
  • Mastery of classical supervised methods such as random forests, support vector machines, logistic regression, Gaussian process models.
  • Expertise in neural networks such as MLPs, RNNs, transformers, as well as training methodologies/loss functions.
  • Ability to Identify new research opportunities and developing innovative solutions to complex problems

Some from the following:

  • Advanced knowledge of large-language model paradigms such as prompting, retrieval, and agentic design patterns.
  • Comprehensive understanding of word/image embeddings and their applications.
  • Proficiency in multimodal modelling.
  • Ability to analyse large quantities of data for rapid, accurate insights.
  • Mastery of application frameworks such as Dash, Streamlit, FastAPI.
  • Expertise in natural language processing.
  • Expertise in computer vision.
  • Extensive experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  • Proficiency in PostgreSQL, graph and vector databases.
  • Mastery of Git workflow.
  • Deep understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of various AI & machine learning methodologies.
  • Advanced understanding of statistical concepts and methods, including significance testing, regression analysis, dimensionality reduction, and clustering.

  • Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of data scientists.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan effectively and deliver to deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Positive attitude to work, with the ability to learn quickly and adapt to new challenges.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work productively, both autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Actively keep up with current developments in the field and integrate new methodologies into practice.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate AI/ML solutions into products and services.
  • Experience in strategic decision-making and contributing to the company’s overall data strategy.
