The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) is a 501(c)3 grantmaking foundation that receives an annual Congressional appropriation of over $315 million and is governed by a private, bipartisan Board of Directors. Position Summary:
The Program Officer will work with the LAC team leadership to manage the Endowment’s LAC program, particularly initiatives focused on Cuba and/or Venezuela. This role entails managing projects, conducting monitoring and evaluation, and providing political analysis.
Responsibilities:
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs, Political Science, International Development, or a related discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
· 4+ years of experience for and 2+ years of living and working in the region. Prior experience on Cuba and/or Venezuela is a plus.
· Significant experience in nonprofit work.
· Experience in financial monitoring and reporting.
· Knowledge of program evaluation techniques.
· Regional knowledge of one or more countries in the Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) region.
· In-depth understanding of political issues and trends in the Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) region.
· Full professional fluency in Spanish is required.
· Proficiency in Portuguese, French, or Haitian Creole is a plus.
· Ability to travel to countries within the region, as needed.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Exceptional analytical and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure.
· High degree of organization and initiative.
· Demonstrated ability to work as a team player, including coordination and facilitation skills.
· Authorized to work in the United States.
This position is part of the NED Bargaining Unit.

Located in Washington, D.C., the salary range for this role is $64,500 - USD 102,750, plus benefits. The final offer for a successful candidate will be determined by a combination of factors, including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, education, and market considerations.
