  • ABOUT THE ROLE

    theTradeDesk is looking for a Senior Enterprise Administrator with experience in managing Enterprise Tableau Cloud deployments. The Tableau Admin will be supporting and advising theTradeDesk on all aspects of Tableau, including data source optimization, management, performance tuning, configuration, and integrations, and troubleshooting. Your focus will be on driving the continued development and scaling of our Tableau environment as our team and their needs continue to grow. This Tableau role will be centered around:

    • Lead design and support resource for our rapidly growing Business Intelligence team, managing our Tableau instance as well as the data sources and dashboards within.
    • Supporting and advising theTradeDesk on various aspects of Tableau Cloud and Desktop.
    • Working closely with data engineering and Business Intelligence teams to tune both live and extracted data sources from Snowflake, Vertica, and on-prem sources.
    • Asist with migrating legacy information from Tableau Server deployment into Tableau Cloud while maintaining best practices for using the cloud platform.

    This position is intended for someone who is looking to partner closely with our Business Intelligence team and take ownership of the Tableau environments that they rely on. We have several improvement initiatives planned for this year, so we’re looking for a candidate who is excited to guide the further development of our Tableau environments as well as the processes that various teams follow when using Tableau.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO:

    • Develop and document system designs, performance test results, and other technical aspects of Tableau implementation and integrations
    • Work with teams to monitor, tune and optimize performance (platform, data sources, and dashboards)
    • Create best practice guides and work with development teams to implement them.
    • Assist users and developers when Tableau updates are available and help them in adapting to changes
    • Identify background task success/failure and job queueing, slow workbooks, disk usage, and license allocations
    • Create custom administrative views from Tableau Cloud Admin Insights for deeper analytics on your deployment and set custom data-driven alerts for the organization's policies and goals
    • Manage change management (including deployment of new data sources, dashboards, and other system changes from sandbox environment)
    • Assist other teams collaboratively with designing and implementing integrations with Tableau's API
    • Work closely with technical architects, data and software engineers to ensure optimal application and data database/warehouse design to support reporting requirements

    WHO YOU ARE: 

    • 5+ years of relevant experience
    • Familiarity with migrating from Tableau Server to Tableau Cloud
    • Performance engineering: Focus on performance tuning, testing, and capacity planning both within Tableau and data source systems like Snowflake
    • Conviction in what you recommend: comfort and ease in educating and guiding internal stakeholders.
    • Client-Centric: Experience owning engagements and providing best practice advice. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage expectations and internal stakeholder requirements
    • Experience with different database engines - Postgres, SqlServer, MySQL and public cloud database solutions
    • Excellent written communication, problem solving, and process management skills
    • Interest or experience developing Tableau extensions or other applications strongly preferred
    • Hands on experience with AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Azure technologies at scale strongly preferred
    • Experience building out monitoring and observability platforms (Grafana, Kibana, CloudWatch, DataDog, New Relic, etc. strongly preferred

The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location. All employees may be eligible to become The Trade Desk shareholders through eligibility for stock-based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees based on company and individual performance. The Trade Desk also offers other compensation depending on the role such as sales-based incentives and commissions. Plus, expected benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with premiums paid in full for employees and dependents, retirement benefits such as a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, well-being benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, parental leave, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full-time employees up to 120 hours thru the first year and 160 hours thereafter, and around 13 paid holidays per year.  Employees can also purchase The Trade Desk stock at a discount through The Trade Desk’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.

At the Trade Desk, Base Salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is
$76,900$141,000 USD
