Position Overview:
We are currently seeking to add a Food Prep Coordinator to our growing team. Strong candidates must be ready to work in a fast paced environment, while retaining high standards of organization, cleanliness, and efficiency in order to meet the school and Yay’s quality standards and ensure our customer/client satisfaction. The duties include preparing ingredients, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and potential preparation for our other school partners.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for preparation of all designated food items, meeting company specifications and guaranteeing appropriate attention to detail is demonstrated
- Properly label and date all products to ensure safekeeping and sanitation
- Maintain solid knowledge of all food products, sanitation standards & basic culinary techniques
- Display ability to follow both written and verbal instructions
- Keep the facility and your prep area clean and organized
- Bring basic cooking skills, ingredient preparation, and food assembly
- Manage workload as it relates to day and schedule
- Communicate clearly with Cafe Lead or Operational Leads on product, inventory and quality concerns.
- Display ability to read and execute core recipes
- Follow company policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Previous experience in customer service, food service, hospitality or related fields is preferred
- Acquire and maintain an appropriate food handler permit within 14 days of on-boarding
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact with diverse groups of people, including students, faculty, and staff
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work well with school staff, students, and other team members
- Flexibility to work morning and afternoon hours, as scheduling will depend on each individual school’s needs. Most positions will be part-time (15-20 hours per week)
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for meal deliveries
- Listed as an insured party for your vehicle
- Clean driving record
- Ability to pass a background check

- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
- ServSafe certification is preferred but not mandatory; can be obtained once employed
- Flexibility in working hours, as the schedule may vary based on business needs, including some nights and weekends
Compensation:
- $18.00 per hour
- 401(k) eligible after 6 months
- Data stipend
