This is a 15 hour per week salary position. The worship leader must be available to lead worship services
on Sundays and is expected to put in several hours on Sundays for preparation and organization for the
Sunday morning worship service. Some hours during the week are expected to prepare lyric slides,
choose a playlist for Sunday morning, and lead a volunteer worship team in practice weekly in preparation
for Sunday morning.

New Hope offers a flexible work environment with a salary for this position ranging from $1000 to $1,300
per month based on experience, paid out weekly.

Job Responsibilities:

● Develop a weekly order of worship songs, ideally including 2 hymns and 4 contemporary
songs, and communicate it in advance to the members of the band and tech team and lead
weekly worship services from either guitar or piano. Currently we use
planningcenteronline.com and songselect.com for the communication and music selection
tasks.

● Facilitate music reporting to CCLI during our church’s reporting time. (This is only 6 months
every 2 years. CCLI will notify you.)

● Plan out 3 months at a time in scheduling musicians, singers, sound techs, and computer
operators. We also use planningcenteronline.com for this task.

● Direct a weekly rehearsal, if needed, with the worship band and tech team that both prepares
for worship each Sunday, and develops new music to be introduced to the congregation in
future services. The worship leader ultimately chooses the music, but it is important that he/she
seeks input from the band members on song choices.

● Ensure that the stage set-up is ready for the band each week. This includes maintaining the
hydration of the piano system and ensuring necessary cables, amps, music stands, and music
are ready for team members.

● Build the worship presentation (song slides) on ProPresenter for each week’s service.

● Recruit and/or develop new musicians, singers, and tech team members sufficient to carry out
the weekly needs of the service and prepare for future needs.

● Work within a yearly budget and follow the financial guidelines for purchases.
● Work under the guidance of the Senior Pastor and Elders.
Skills and Experience:

● Experience leading and facilitating music from a leadership position. Experience working in a
church setting or with worship services is a plus, but not required.

● Ability to lead worship with strong instrument performance required. Either guitar or piano
proficiency is required.

● Skills in vocal performance and leadership required

● Ability to work without direct supervision and to maintain quality work and time management with
self-motivation

● Ability to work cooperatively with other church employees and leadership

● Excellent leadership, planning and organizational skills

● Ability to work as a team with volunteer worship band members while offering leadership and
overall direction.

● Associates or bachelor’s degree in music or ministry preferred, but not required.

● Basic computer skills and a familiarity working with ProPresenter required. Experience with Apple
programs and computers nice-to-have, but not required.
