Overview:
The Global Head of Trade Support is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the global trade support function across all trading desks and regions. This role ensures the seamless execution, clearing, and settlement of trades. The ideal candidate will possess deep industry knowledge, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record in enhancing operational efficiency and supporting global trading operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement global trade support strategies that align with the organization’s business objectives and market trends.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of trade support professionals across multiple regions.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to drive operational excellence and innovation within the trade support function.
- Trading System Engineering and Support
- Partner with Front and Back Office software engineering teams to manage the deployment, configuration, and ongoing support of low-latency, in-house and 3rd party trading systems.
- Leverage technology to enhance trade support processes and systems, driving automation and efficiency.
- Identify and implement best practices and process improvements to streamline operations and reduce operational risk.
- Collaborate with IT and technology teams to develop and deploy new tools and solutions that support trade support functions.
- Operational Management:
- Oversee the daily trade support operations, ensuring timely and accurate trade execution, clearing, and settlement processes.
- Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of trade support activities.
- Develop and maintain robust processes and systems for trade capture, reconciliation, and resolution of trade discrepancies.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Act as a primary point of contact for internal stakeholders, including trading desks, compliance, and risk management teams.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders such as clearing firms, brokers, and exchanges.
- Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on trade support activities, performance, and strategic initiatives.
- Outage Management:
- Oversee and respond to trading system events and outages, ensuring rapid response, resolution, effective communication, and remediation, ensuring minimal impact on trading operations.
- Develop and maintain contingency plans and procedures for managing trade support disruptions.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in trade support, operations, or a related field within the trading industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of global trade support processes, systems, and industry best practices.
- Proven leadership and team management skills with the ability to drive change and performance improvements.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in trade support systems, trading platforms, and financial software.
