Constellation Schools are seeking a highly-qualified Speech Therapist in Cleveland, Ohio.
The Speech Therapist facilitates the development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with Section 504 and IDEA. As the speech language pathologist, provides for the delivery of speech and language services and evaluates pupils referred for multidisciplinary evaluations to determine appropriate educational programs.
About the Opportunity:
Responsibilities of the Speech Therapist include:
- Facilitates the implementation of procedures pursuant to Section 504/IDEA, including processing grievances, advising administrators, and providing consultation regarding the development and implementation of regular and special education services.
- Ensure that students referred for speech and language assessments receive an appropriate and comprehensive multidisciplinary evaluation as specified by state and federal regulations.
- Ensure procedural compliance with federal and state mandates with regard to the provision of speech and language services and parent and student rights.
- Participate in Multi-Factored Evaluation team, Individualized Education Program team, Instructional Assistance Team, or other child-study team meetings, on an as-needed basis.
- Provide in-service training for teachers and/or administrators regarding relevant current developments in the fields of education and speech language pathology.
- Serve as a liaison to community agencies which provide services for special needs students.
- Assist the Coordinator of Educational Services in the development of the special education and pupil services budget, the recruitment and selection of pupil services staff, and the review and development of special education reports as required by the Ohio Department of Education.
- Attend national and local professional seminars, read professional literature, participate in professional development activities, and engage in relevant research activities.
- Duties appropriate to the position may be added by the Executive Director or designee
About You:
- Master’s degree in Communicative Disorders or equivalent (required)
- ODE licensure as a speech language pathologist (required)
- Current State of Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology License (required)
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (preferred)
- Ability to maintain effective relationships with students, peers, parents, and community.
- Proficient in relevant computer applications.
- Accuracy in keyboard skills and proven ability to enter data with attention to detail.
- Able to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Must possess excellent communication skills.
- Problem solving skills: able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; able to gather and analyze information skillfully.
- Interpersonal Skills: able to maintain confidentiality, remain open to others’ ideas and exhibit a willingness to try new things
- Oral Communication: able to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, demonstrate group presentation skills and conduct meetings.
- Written Communication: able to edit work for spelling and grammar, present numerical data effectively and able to read and interpret written information.
- Planning/organizing: able to prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently and develop realistic action plans.
- Quality Control: able to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and monitor own work to ensure quality.
- Adaptability: able to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
- Dependability: able to be consistently at work and on time, follow instructions, respond to leadership direction and solicit and accept feedback to improve performance.
