We are seeking an experienced IT Specialist to lead, administer, and support critical IT systems and services within an office of our client, The Department of Veterans Affairs. This role involves designing and implementing technology solutions that enhance data management, system security, networking, and automation capabilities. The IT Specialist will work closely with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) stakeholders to ensure efficient, secure, and reliable IT operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage IT systems, ensuring reliable, secure, and high-performance operations.
- Evaluate, recommend, design, and develop IT solutions for data acquisition, storage, manipulation, and transmission.
- Implement and maintain data storage solutions, information assurance measures, and networking infrastructure.
- Develop and optimize software applications, web-based solutions, and operational IT systems.
- Ensure compliance with data governance standards, security best practices, and VA regulations.
- Conduct assessments and modernize legacy IT systems, improving scalability and efficiency.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze and disseminate timely, accurate, and relevant data.
- Develop solutions to compile, analyze, and disseminate timely, relevant data and information to VA stakeholders, including web-based designs, operational systems, document storage, applications, models, and assessment of existing legacy systems.
- Recommend and design solutions for providing information to VA stakeholders through SharePoint and/or Microsoft Teams site development and management.
- Research links to other Veterans Affairs websites or another Department or Agency websites as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in IT systems administration, software development, or a related role.
- Proficiency in data storage, system security, software development, and network management.
- Experience in web-based IT solutions, operational systems, and document storage technologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on IT optimization and security compliance.
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience working in VA or federal IT environments.
- Knowledge of cloud computing, automation tools, and IT modernization strategies.
- Familiarity with risk management, cybersecurity frameworks, and IT governance policies.
