Position Summary
The layout foreman/woman is a support position for the project superintendents in our environmental construction division. Their responsibilities and duties are based on the needs of the superintendent. It is critical that this employee not only be trustworthy but also an excellent communicator and able to be independent as well as function in a crew or teamwork situation. The environmental construction division focuses on a variety of commercial plantings to restore what the necessary destruction has caused to improve our community's infrastructure and our Chesapeake Bay watershed.
Duties and Responsibilities
She/he has the responsibility of fulfilling any superintendent request for help during any phase of a project. They should be able to understand all the specifications and plan details that have been shared and how to execute the scope of work in an efficient, effective, and professional manner. The ideal candidate will have excellent spatial comprehension as well as the ability to understand construction field plan sets and convey instructions in a clear manner to the field personnel, clients, and superiors.
Successful candidates should possess the following:
Minimum 2 years of experience in green infrastructure construction as a foreman or equal.
A 'safety first' approach to every task as well as a role model for the other crew members.
Ability to read, comprehend, and implement various construction drawings and contract specifications.
Experience using grade rod and laser (GIS a plus) and a knowledge of survey techniques.
Demonstrate an understanding of general financial principles and how to apply them to various scopes of work.
Demonstrate or show the ability to learn and apply management skills, i.e., communication when organizing a plan to complete projects according to the budget.
Ability to achieve high production rates by employing motivational techniques that inspire individuals to hold themselves accountable to their team and company goals.
Have the ability and confidence to operate heavy equipment i.e., skidsteer/loader and mini/mid-excavator in a safe but productive manner.
A valid Drivers' License and a clean certified driving record.
Solid communication skills (writing and speaking) in a direct and
respectful manner.
