Job Summary

 

Harrow's Sterile Compounding Technician assists in the overall pharmacy operations under the guidance of the Pharmacist. This position will work with a team of dedicated staff who compounds and dispenses prescribed medications in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. The pharmacist-in-charge will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining an effective, ongoing, organization wide performance improvement (PI) plan.

 

Core Responsibilities

 

  • Perform mathematical calculations to determine appropriate drug measurements in order to compound ordered
  • Works with the pharmacy compounding software to accurately document compounding procedures.
  • Maintaining the pharmacy clean room suite to USP797 & 800 requirements
  • Compounds and aseptically fills sterile preparation medications in compliance with state and federal laws, as well as the pharmacy's standard operation procedures.
  • Assist in ordering supplies and medications needed for compounding.
  • Maintain any necessary QA logs, including but not limited to, cleaning, temperature, waste and expired medications.
  • Conduct routine medication inventories including monitoring for drug expirations dates and assist with inventory control of medications.
  • Clean and maintain equipment and work
  • Able to perform sterile gowning, garbing and hand hygiene functions as described in the pharmacy's standard operation procedures.

  • Comply with all state-specific legislation and regulatory
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and attending all pharmacy-mandated training.
  • Maintains all required licenses and certifications.
  • Check all orders received in the dispensing pharmacy system and ensure orders are processed timely and

  • Assist in collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, quality studies, recalls, corrective actions, and re-validations.
  • Assist pharmacist in reviewing current policies and improvise plans to improve upon the existing quality
  • Must have the ability to lift/push/pull greater than 50
  • Must have the ability to perform repeated movements in the clean rooms.
  • Establish and maintain strong, positive, productive relationships with other technicians, purchasing agents and/or support staff.
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills required. Must be able to manage heavy workload and aggressive timelines in a timely manner, prioritize and work under pressure.

Qualifications & Requirements

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent work and education in a related field,
  • 2 years of experience working as a sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician
  • Pharmacy Technician License and National Pharmacy Certification.
  • Working knowledge of all applicable State and Federal laws and regulations regarding pharmaceuticals
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with a high degree of
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating excellent time management and organization
  • Proficient in the use of standard Microsoft Office software products, including Excel, Outlook, Word
  • Strong organizational skills with the proven ability to
  • Works with a sense of urgency, while engaging and listening to experts

There is a high frequency of reaching over your head and bending down throughout the duration of each shift.

 

This job operates in a health care setting. This position requires frequent standing and walking to storage shelves and filling counters to fill prescriptions. While performing the duties of this role, the employee will be exposed to light, noise.
