About the Role
A unique opportunity exists for an Operations Supervisor who is ready to take the next step in their rail career. The position would suit a team-orientated, results focused individual, passionate about the rail industry. This is a hands-on role, working within the rail operations team.
Reporting to the National Operations Manager, key roles and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Support the day-to-day operations of the rail operations and rail infrastructure nationally.
- Lead the rail operations team, providing direction and monitoring the performance
- Oversee external contractors including but not limited to; Contracted Rail shunting services, locomotive movements and train crewing, maintenance contractors for track, signals and rail infrastructure.
- Be proactive in identifying and resolving problems that may arise
- Work closely with the maintenance team to coordinate the servicing and turn-around of all arriving and departing trains.
- Assist in coordinating the maintenance of fixed assets within the Terminal facility and rail yard, including but not limited to buildings, fencing, lighting, communications, electrical and water infrastructure, platforms and yard environs.
- Enforce safety regulations, educate employees on safe work practices, and promptly address any safety concerns or incidents that may arise in the rail yards.
- Assist with the review and update of Rail Operations Procedures and conducting internal audits as required
About You
- A demonstrated ability to lead a team
- Ability to work a seven-day roster, including regular weekends
- Ability to build strong relationships within a team environment
- Extensive experience within the rail environment
- Demonstrated ability to perform well under pressure
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Completed Rail Safety Worker qualifications, desirable
- Rail Signalling systems knowledge/ experience, desirable
