Position Description
Under supervision of the Health Center Manager, supports the day-to-day needs of the health center team to ensure smooth operation of health center services. This staff person will fully embody a commitment to race equity; evidenced in all interactions with PPMI colleagues and external stakeholders.
Essential Functions
•Provides effective and engaging one-on-one training for Medical Assistants, utilizing evidence based approaches that center the adult learner.
•In partnership with the Health Center Manager, Clinicians, Quality Risk & Compliance and Learning & Development teams, prepares and delivers all necessary standardized new hire and ongoing training specific to the Medical Assistant role including front and back duties, hard skills and patient education.
•Sustains adequate coverage of Medical Assistant roles during clinic operation for all areas within the health center and serve as a resource for staff.
•In partnership with the Health Center Manager, serves as on-site support for EHR system including, updates, supplemental training, workflow changes, documentation standards, best practices and troubleshooting. Acts as team representative when engaging with available EHR support ticketing systems.
•In the absence of the Health Center Manager, provides direction and leadership to the health center team, addresses patient complaints and ensures a high standard of customer service is maintained.
•Utilizing observation audit tools and other methods, monitors and provides information to the Health Center Manager on health center efficiency, quality of services, and patient experience; reviews electronic health records system for accuracy and completeness.
•Assists Health Center Manager with calculation of health center operations data relative to goal attainment and budget planning.
•Coordinates the ordering and distribution of supplies, ensures that adequate levels of supplies are available and that equipment is in proper working order, cleaned and calibrated.
•Keeps current on coding requirements, billing practices and insurance reimbursement.
•Assists with the development of clinic schedules based on no-show rates and patient demand.
•Ensures adherence to agency cash handling policies and assists with health center banking activities.
•Provides direct care services such as routine laboratory procedures, vital signs, patient education and assist clinicians and/or physicians during exams and procedures, when needed.
•Provides patients basic information on birth control methods, STI’s, abortion, vasectomy, prenatal care, colposcopy, LEEP, vasectomy and other services provided by PPMI.
•Based on needs of agency, provides vaginal and abdominal ultrasounds, as well as intra-operative ultrasound guidance.
•Supports and participates in the referral/follow-up system and provides test results to patients; ensures utilization of referral for services not offered at the health center.
•Travel Required: Some travel may be required to other health centers within a defined region
Qualifications and Experience
· Minimum one year experience working in a health care setting and training others
· Demonstrated ability to achieve objectives in collaboration with other functional areas
· Demonstrated commitment to Planned Parenthood’s mission, vision and values
