Sedron Technologies is hiring a talented Traveling Commissioning/Controls Engineer!

Founded in 2014 and headquartered in the Pacific Northwest, Sedron Technologies designs, manufactures, installs, and operates advanced water and waste upcycling technologies. With a focus on transforming the paradigm from waste processing to resource recovery, Sedron Technologies works with municipal, agricultural, and industrial customers to process their "waste" into climate-smart commodities through environmentally and financially sustainable methods.

We are seeking hands-on engineers to help us develop, construct, commission, and improve our processing equipment. Our sites are focused on state-of-the-art nutrient management technology for the agriculture and municipal industries that will help solve pollution and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. 

This person will be onsite for the commissioning of new facilities for a period of six months up to two years before relocating to new locations across the U.S. 

As our equipment is installed and commissioned, you will help debug problems, innovate designs, and implement changes that will involve mechanical, electrical, chemical/biological, and controls (PLC) elements. 

Because we design, build, commission, and operate our technologies, we are looking for individuals who can meet the following essential functions of the position:  

  • Very hands-on: enjoys doing mechanical repair and assembly
  • Highly intelligent and curious
  • Capable of learning electrical design, installation, and troubleshooting of process controls (sensors, actuators, pumps, valves, etc.)
  • Design, develop, and maintain control systems, including PLC and HMI programming.
  • Integrate and optimize electrical, mechanical, and software components for automated systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to control systems and automation processes
  • Conduct tests and simulations to validate system functionality and reliability
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, mechanical, and software engineers, to develop effective control solutions
  • Prepare documentation such as technical drawings, specifications, and user manuals
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company protocols
  • Learn new skills quickly and take complete ownership of assigned tasks  
  • Work directly with the customer and internal technical teams to ensure progress on all stages of project lifecycle  
  • Participate in design, manufacturing, assembly, and commissioning support  
  • Be responsible for ensuring materials are organized and ready for manufacturing, including carrying out purchasing activities  
  • Prioritize duties and responsibilities in order to fulfill objectives  
  • Demonstrate the ability to work individually and within a multidisciplinary team, communicating and collaborating with technicians and engineers alike  
  • Comply with all safety, 5S, and HazMat practices  
  • Work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines  
  • Demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors  
  • Demonstrate passion and excitement for solving difficult yet exciting tasks  
  • Arrive to work on time and maintain good attendance  
  • Maintain good organization skills  
  • Perform other related duties as assigned 

This position has multiple levels of competency to be determined by performance, certifications, and supervisor discretion.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Controls, Electrical Engineering or a related field is required  
  • 3+ years of experience in designing, programming, and maintaining control systems. 
  • Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens, Allen Bradley, or similar). 
  • Experience with SCADA systems and HMI development 
  • Experience with NX or equivalent CAD software  
  • Experience in the industrial or manufacturing sector 
  • Familiarity with process control and automation in biological or waste management industries 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software  
  • Familiarity with steam tables, pump and fan curves, enthalpy changes in fluids, and basic materials and manufacturing is desired  
  •  Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Ability to travel to various company sites as needed 
  • May require occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds 
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during site inspections 
  • Comfortable working in industrial environments, including exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures 
  • Willingness/ability to wear respiratory protection or other safety equipment 

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 

  • Compensation range for this role is between $90,000 - $135,000 annually  
  • Discretionary bonus 
  • The range provided is Sedron’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities.

 

Must be a US Citizen or legal permanent resident for this position. We are unable to sponsor any employment visas.
