Building a team starts with valuing the team. We hire the best of the best to ensure you’re working with people you can constantly learn from. You’re trusted to get your work done your way while testing the limits of what’s possible and what’s next. We work hard to provide a culture where everyone feels supported, and our employees feel it—their votes helped us become one of Newsweek's Top 100 Global Most Loved Workplaces in 2023.
We also value sports. Not just because of the big wins and highlight-worthy plays, but because of the lasting impact sports can have: the lifelong lessons in teamwork and dedication; the influence of inspiring mentors; the priceless opportunities to play at the next level. Sports can change lives—that’s what we value.
Our team helps the world see sports differently through products that make it easier to capture video, analyze data, share highlights and do a lot more.

Your Role
We’re looking for an Engineering Manager with a passion for cloud technology and building highly scalable software solutions. This role is pivotal in driving Hudl’s mission forward, offering ample opportunities to learn and make a significant impact on our loyal and vocal customer base.
As an Engineering Manager at Hudl, you’ll:
- Drive technical strategy. By shaping and driving your team's technical strategy, you’ll ensure alignment with Hudl’s overall vision. Your strategic insights will help set the direction for our engineering efforts and ensure we stay ahead in the market.
- Strive for efficiency. By focusing on outcomes over outputs, you’ll ensure your team delivers high-impact work efficiently. Your leadership will empower your team to make data-driven decisions and iterate quickly on feedback.
- Collaborate across disciplines. You’ll work closely with leaders from various disciplines to plan and deliver on enhancements across our product suite. Your ability to integrate diverse perspectives will be key to staying innovative and ensuring our products meet the highest standards.
- Empower your team. You’ll manage a team of 4-8 Software Engineers with autonomy, giving them the opportunity to find the best solutions using their expertise. You’ll be responsible for coaching, developing and serving the engineers on your team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
- Champion Agile practices. You’ll participate actively in Scrum ceremonies, playing a significant role in maintaining a strong team culture.
We'd like to hire someone for this role who lives near our office in Lexington, KY, though we don't require a set number of in-office days. Engineers in our Lexington office frequently work from the office and we'd like the manager to be at the office on a regular (negotiable) cadence.
Must-Haves
- Cloud technology experience. You have a proven track record of designing, implementing and maintaining cloud-based systems that can scale efficiently and handle large volumes of data.
- A proven track record. You’ve set technical direction and guided previous teams toward successfully delivering project outcomes, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic goals.
- A mentor. You’re passionate about fostering a culture of growth, providing guidance, and supporting the professional development of your team members.
- Excellent communication skills. Your ability to articulate ideas clearly and work effectively with various stakeholders will be crucial in driving cross-functional projects and fostering a collaborative environment.
- A commitment to inclusion. You will champion diversity and inclusion within your team, creating a workplace where all team members feel valued and empowered to contribute.
- Formal managerial experience. Skills like career coaching and performance management will strengthen your ability to succeed as an Engineering Manager at Hudl.
Nice-to-Haves
- Professional background in TypeScript, React, GraphQL, C#, PHP, React, MongoDB, MySQL or AWS.
Adjacent languages, frameworks and services used at scale are also relevant experiences.
- Video processing and storage experience. If you’ve used tools like ffmpeg, or video livestreaming protocols like HLS, RTMP, SRT or similar, that’s a plus.
- Experience in product partnership. A proven ability to collaborate effectively with Product Managers to shape and solidify the team’s roadmap will be an asset.
- Mobile development know-how. Hudl is heavily invested in React Native to bring our Fan experience to iOS, Android, and a variety of OTT (TV) platforms with a single codebase, so experience with React Native or mobile development (native iOS or Android) would be an asset in this role.
Our Role
- Champion work-life harmony. We’ll give you the flexibility you need in your work life (e.g., flexible vacation time, company-wide holidays and timeout (meeting-free) days, remote work options and more) so you can enjoy your personal life too.
- Guarantee autonomy. We have an open, honest culture and we trust our people from day one. Your team will support you, but you’ll own your work and have the agency to try new ideas.
- Encourage career growth. We’re lifelong learners who encourage professional development. We’ll give you tons of resources and opportunities to keep growing.
- Provide an environment to help you succeed. We've invested in our offices, designing incredible spaces with our employees in mind. But whether you’re at the office or working remotely, we’ll provide you the tech stack and hardware to do your best work.
- Support your mental and physical health. We care about our employees’ wellbeing. Our Employee Assistance Program, employee resource groups and fitness partner Peerfit have you covered.
- Cover your medical insurance. We have multiple plans to pick from to ensure you’ll have the coverage you (and your dependents) want, including vision, dental, fertility healthcare and family forming benefits.
- Contribute to your 401(K). Yep, that’s free money. We’ll match up to 4% of your own contribution.
