Description of job responsibilities:
This position is within the packaging R&D organization, which is tasked with designing, developing & sustaining complete packaging solutions for medical devices from all product platforms within Client Medical Surgical Systems.
Specific responsibilities may include (but not limited to) the following:
Identify, evaluate and qualify new packaging materials, designs, processes & technologies
Translate customer/user, marketing, regulatory, medical requirements into specific, measurable functional performance
Research, develop, update metrics for internal & external benchmarking
Create prototypes/CAD models, drawings, specifications, fixture designs, test instructions
Lead statistical design & analyses of experiments to draw engineering conclusions
Work with cross-functional project teams comprising QA, Mfg, MA, RA, Mktg through various design control elements supporting ongoing productivity and sustainability initiatives globally
Perform root cause analysis for field / plant
Qualifications Required-
Thorough understanding of fundamental package design principles & techniques
Demonstrated experience in characterizing & qualifying rigid and flexible forming materials and technologies (corrugate, paper board materials, F/F/S, Flow wrap etc.)
Demonstrated experience with package processing equipment & process development and validation esp. in healthcare, food industry
Demonstrated experience planning, leading and completing cross-functional projects meeting time, quality commitment. Strong sense of accountability.
Experience transforming user requirements to product test methods and metrics
Proficiency in CAD (e.g. solidworks) & Packaging design software (e.g. TOPS, CAPE, ArtiosCAD)
Designing, developing, analyzing statistical experiments and understanding of cost/benefit of experiments/analyses
Qualifications Preferred-
Design for Six Sigma
Experience Required-
3-4 years package development experience
Experience designing, developing and validating packaging in various materials required
Experience Preferred-
6-8 years package development experience
Packaging experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical or food industry
Additional Skills Required-
