The Opportunity - Software Engineer

We are looking for a Software Engineer for our Payments team who will play a hands-on role in driving our mission to build a world-class technology company with a global footprint. Our team is responsible for ensuring business owners get paid effortlessly, helping them grow their business, and impacting their customers' experiences.

NOTE: This role can be worked remotely from the above location. 

What You'll Do as a Software Engineer in the Payments Team: 

• Build end-to-end experiences for our payments platform, integrating FreshBooks Payments with external providers, (ie Stripe and Paypal), ensuring a seamless journey across FreshBooks for our business owners.
• Make it easy for our customers to scale their business by onboarding and relying on Freshbooks Payments solutions as their business's main payment processing platform.
• Design and develop application technologies that optimize solution operation and minimize maintenance overhead;
• Work closely with UX designers and Product owners to ensure the best web experience for our customers, building reusable customer experiences and contributing to our internal design system

What You'll Bring to the Role

• 2+ years of experience in web application development (Agile or Lean environment) 
• Front-end development experience, knowledge of Javascript modern frameworks and client side performance optimization
• Experience in Python (our core back-end technologies) or Javascript and ReactJS (the frontend library we are currently migrating to).
• Experience with databases and SQL – our database is MySQL

You'll Stand Out If You Bring Experience In

• Familiarity with continuous integration (or better, continuous delivery) and automated build pipelines;
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform, or other similar tools
• The ability to balance desire to ship code quickly to our customers with the responsibility of making good technical decisions
• Developing a habit of continuous learning, and of applying new technologies, architectures, and methodologies to improve the code and Engineering organization
