<p><strong>About Us</strong><br></p><p>Snappy Shopper is the market leader in the growing Q-commerce convenience grocery sector, worth £41b in the UK. In addition to our independent retailers, we serve most of the major convenience store players, including Spar, Nisa, Premier and Booker.</p><p>Snappy exists to enable local high street businesses to serve their customers online so that local communities thrive, and revenue stays local. Retailers have seen revenue uplifts of between £5k and £120k per month, making the platform mission critical to local business.</p><p>This role represents a rare and exciting opportunity to join the business at an incredibly important time, playing a key role in developing the finance function.</p><p> <strong>Our location</strong><br></p><p>We are a Scottish start-up with 120 colleagues based around the UK and our Head Office is located in Dundee.</p><p>This is a hybrid role with occasional occasional travel to Dundee and Edinburgh required. </p><p><strong>About the Role</strong><br></p><p>You will work closely with the Group Financial Controller (GFC) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to develop and build a world class finance operation from the ground up to support business growth. As with all high growth start-ups there is a degree of fluidity around this role; priorities and deliverables will shift regularly based on business needs and as such, it's important that you take ownership, roll your sleeves up and get stuck in.<br></p><ul></ul><p>Thus, the responsibilities listed below are directional rather than fixed:</p><ul><li>Work with the GFC and CFO to develop and build a world class finance operation from the ground up to support business growth</li><li>Support the GFC in managing the core finance operation including preparation of the monthly management accounts, board reporting and statutory accounts.</li><li>Own the monthly financial close process by operating both hands on (for example, by preparing reconciliations and posting journals) and reviewing the work of colleagues and peers</li><li>Own relationships with key stakeholders including interdepartmental peers, external auditors and investors</li><li>Take the lead in ensuring the company’s compliance bar is met, including managing external auditors and tax advisors</li><li>Develop and implement scalable, automated financial processes across the business</li><li>Put in place and maintain a strong control environment that protects the business from risk</li></ul><p>As a start-up, the future is ever-changing, and you will be involved in wide-ranging projects supporting the GFC and CFO based on business needs.</p><p><strong>About You</strong><br></p><p>To do this job well you’ll need to be a professionally qualified accountant with strong accounting knowledge, demonstrated through experience either in a similar financial reporting role, or an audit or accounting background.</p><ul></ul><p>Other important requirements include:</p><ul><li>Strong work ethic, resilience and ability to navigate change</li><li>Naturally curious and willing to learn, grow and develop<br></li><li>Low ego and high empathy</li><li>Entrepreneurial mind-set, comfortable in highly ambiguous environment and able to independently take responsibility from day one</li><li>Able to operate in a rapidly changing environment whilst being well-organised, pro-active and deadline driven</li><li>Experience of working in a fast-paced finance team, either in a finance manager or financial reporting role</li><li>Strong accounting knowledge (UK GAAP or IFRS)</li><li>Practical experience with a range of finance software</li><li>Experience of improving systems, tooling and processes within a finance environment</li><li>Experience of working with colleagues outside of finance to ensure the usage of appropriate financial processes</li><li>Experience in a similar high growth technology environment is a strong plus point, but not a necessity </li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Who</strong> you are is as important to us as <strong>what</strong> you can do.
