JOB TITLE: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

OVERVIEW:
To advance the mission of Operation Mobilization, this position will provide exceptional financial, business and operational leadership and partner with the CEO and Leadership Team peers to ensure that OM USA exercises excellent stewardship of its resources while enhancing financial sustainability and long-term organizational health.
HIGH-LEVEL OBJECTIVES:
Supply strategic financial, operations, and business council across a variety of topics to the CEO as well as other members of senior leadership.
Serve as the enterprise-wide champion for operational excellence, organizational efficiency and superior-quality service in all facets of the business.
Add substantial value as a key contributing member of the senior executive team responsible for overall organizational strategy, cultural formation, and progress toward mission.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Build and lead a high-performing, best-in-class finance and accounting team.
Provide executive leadership for a diverse portfolio of operations-focused functions, including payroll, IT, legal and facilities – whether through direct lines of reporting or managerial influence – that shapes the organization toward ever-increasing operational excellence.
Contribute to strategic planning processes, in collaboration with the CEO and Leadership Team; ensure operating plans support organizational strategic plans.
Participate in OM International projects, such as Global Financial Sustainability. Bring leadership and skills to bear to help support initiatives for OM globally.
Along with the OM USA Leadership Team, exercise strategic and spiritual leadership.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Able to provide best-in-class senior financial leadership for the finance/accounting department and elevate the financial acumen of the organization as a whole.
Able to provide executive leadership a diverse portfolio of operations-related departments.
Able to lead and influence with and without direct line authority in a globally diverse environment.
Able to recognize, recruit and build talent.
FOCUSED RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide leadership in the development, deployment, and adherence to finance and accounting standards and best practices, ensuring OM USA is appropriately accounting for all financial transactions in accordance with U.S Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Liaise with OM International Finance Team to ensure compliance with OM International Financial standards. Manage key relationships with External Auditors, ECFA, and others.
Lead Operations Teams in assessing and managing risk across the organization, in line with Board risk appetite, ensuring adequate systems of internal controls. Lead projects strengthening regulatory compliance.
Ensure timely, accurate, and relevant reporting of financial results to OM Leadership Team and Board of Directors; driving actions supported by financial analysis and insights to ensure the financial health of the organization.
Primary responsibility for interface with legal counsel on behalf of the organization.
Champion the enhancement of the organization’s overall financial acumen throughout all levels of the company through training, coaching, and systematizing the consideration of financial ramifications in its decision-making processes.
Lead the budgeting effort for OM USA with appropriate financial analysis and discernment. Set appropriate revenue targets; effectively manage costs and lead executive process to prioritize capacity-building investments. Monitor return on capacity investments and recommend adjustments as necessary.
Collaborate with Chief Development Officer to ensure appropriate accountability for designated donor funds being deployed against projects within OM USA and abroad.
Responsible for managing relationships with the Board’s Audit Committee Chair, including managing Audit Committee meetings and reporting on behalf of the CEO.
Direct the management of treasury functions for OM USA, including risk management/insurance, investment management, banking relationships, etc. Optimize investment returns while ensuring compliance with board-authorized investment policies.
Partner in the planning and execution of business development activities to drive financial results. Provide experienced-based leadership and council for other entrepreneurial activities of OM USA as needed.
Help identify broad opportunities for non-philanthropic revenue sources and build paths to take advantage of these while mitigating risk. Develop frameworks for evaluating business development ideas; executing as appropriate.
Serve on the executive steering committee for IT projects, paying particular attention to those related to finance, accounting, and operational systems.
