The Role:
We are looking for a Data Engineer to take ownership of Blinq’s data analytics infrastructure. This role provides you with the opportunity to create and develop Blinq’s data practices to maximise business effect. With a great sense of ownership over our data and analytics platforms, you will be positively affecting team member happiness and productivity!At this exciting stage of our growth, we want to ensure our data is scalable and spick and span! You would be working closely with Product and Engineering and liaising with technical and non-technical peers to affect change.

This is a hybrid role working from our Melbourne or Sydney locations.
What You Will Own:
- In this role you would become a go-to owner of our data and analytics platforms.
- Maintaining our analytics infrastructure and dashboards, using a variety of tools.
- You will be helping a small product company make best-informed data-driven decisions and aligning our data strategy to our broader business goals.
- Critiquing our data to ensure its accuracy.
- You will be working closely with Product and Engineering teams to determine where best to measure success.
- You will drive cross-functional efforts related to data quality, reporting, insights and remediating data inconsistencies and incompleteness to answer business questions.
- You will design, construct, install, and maintain data processing systems and databases.
- Integrating data from a variety of sources, ensuring data consistency and reliability.
- Building and maintaining efficient data pipelines to support the collection, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data into data warehouses or data lakes.
- Optimizing data processing systems for performance and scalability.
- Implementing data quality checks and validation processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data.
- Documenting data processes, architecture, and workflows to ensure clarity and continuity.
What We Are Looking For:
- You are a great collaborator who can work to understand the needs of different stakeholders and develop a strategy which considers each of these.
- You are a strong communicator and are confident at being an evangelist and driving internal education around your data.
- Strong SQL data wrangling skills.
- Experience in using a data modeling tool like dbt.
- Experience in using Python or R.
- You have worked on a modern event data stack and are familiar with Segment, Amplitude, Looker Studio, BigQuery, Google Analytics and AWS/GCP (desirable).
- You have a strong vision of how an industry-leading modern analytics stack looks like, and can develop a clear strategy for building this out
- A solid grounding in mathematics and statistics.
- You are highly visual & numeric with the ability to communicate highly complex information in clear and simple language.
- Exposure to data systems that support machine learning, and to database migration and/or modernisation projects desirable.
- Experience in A/B Testing is highly desirable.
