Overview
HCP Waypoint is designed to enable platform teams to define golden patterns and workflows for developers to enable management of applications at scale. Waypoint and HCP Terraform work collaboratively to let developers quickly set up their apps' infrastructure with just a button press. The goal with Waypoint is to help platform teams provide a clear and consistent developer experience for their development teams while providing a central catalog of applications, day-2+ operations, and their associated metadata.
About the Role
This role suits someone who has built platforms or portals for developers, worked with infrastructure as code (IaC), CI/CD tools, container orchestration and PaaS technologies, and has experience with enterprise software and clients. Waypoint is a rapidly migrating product with lofty aspirations. You will work with internal and external stakeholders to define the roadmap, detail product requirements, and support go-to-market efforts. You will also help set product strategy, conduct user interviews, and oversee execution in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Craft the product story by recognizing the landscape, user needs, and HashiCorp principles.

Own and improve HCP Waypoint platform strategy documents to set the context for the product roadmap

Prioritize the product roadmap by taking feedback from Waypoint customers, ecosystem partners, engineering, marketing, and the HashiCorp vision.

Conduct user research and write Press Release/Frequently Asked Questions (PRFAQs), Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) to distill the research into requirements for engineering to deliver.

Work closely with engineering to write acceptance criteria for features and answer any questions they may have during implementation.

Communicate product status to all partners and stakeholders. Keep sales and marketing updated on feature releases and keep engineering informed on feature requests

Help with sales and marketing collateral to educate on the product story and features (Website copy, whitepapers, sales decks, FAQs, etc)
Skills and Experience:

5+ years of product management experience with developer-facing products

1+ years of experience with internal developer platforms or portals (IDPs), Terraform, and one or more large cloud providers

Comprehension with coding practices in modern programming languages like Java, Golang, Node, Ruby etc.

Strong user and market research skills

Ability to organize multiple stakeholders towards a common goal

Analytical with the ability to prioritize and make tradeoffs

Robust technical acumen, with a solid knowledge of infrastructure, and developer tooling

Comfortable talking to developers and platform engineers to work on product discovery

Individual pay within the range will be determined based on job related-factors such as skills, experience, and education or training.
The base pay range for this role in the SF Bay Area / NYC area is:
$195,500—$230,000 USD
The base pay range for this role in Seattle Metro, Denver / Boulder Metro, New York (excluding NYC), Washington D.C., or California (excluding SF Bay Area) is:
$179,300—$210,900 USD
The base pay range for this role in Colorado (excluding Denver / Boulder Metro) and Washington (excluding Seattle Metro) is:
$162,900—$191,700 USD
