The ACLU-NC seeks a dynamic and innovative professional to serve as Operations and IT Manager. The Operations and IT Manager will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and is based in our Raleigh, NC office. The Operations and IT Manager must execute their duties with a high degree of emotional intelligence and collaboration. The ideal candidate will bring critical thinking, strategic, and operational expertise to the team. Key Performance Indicators

The Operations and IT Manager position is internally focused and advances the affiliate’s mission by achieving these key objectives:

  • Ensuring that the organization’s future growth is successfully and sustainably managed through systems, services, policies and practices
  • Implementing and maintaining systems and structures for administration, information technologies, governance, human resources, equity and inclusion, program planning, program assessment, performance management and accountability.
  • Fostering cross-departmental collaboration and multi-disciplinary strategies that enhance the work of ACLU-NC and are consistent with executing the organization’s strategic plan.
  • Ensure smooth functioning of the organization by driving operational efficiencies and recommends improvements in systems and practices.

Essential Duties

Operations:

  • Provide day-to-day management of operations in a manner that furthers the mission and core values of the ACLU-NC
  • Provide input during the annual budget process • In collaboration and consultation with the CFO, continuously assess the information technology needs of the affiliate and identify solutions to meet those needs
  • In collaboration and consultation with the CFO, continuously assess the office space needs of the affiliate and identify potential solutions to meet those needs.
  • In collaboration and consultation with the senior staff, continuously assess internal systemic and structural challenges facing the organization and identify solutions to address those challenges.
  • In collaboration with Sr. HR Manager for People and Culture, develop, implement, and monitor affiliate-wide systems of project management, performance management, and accountability.
  • In collaboration with Director of Communications develop and implement systems for robust internal communication and planning.
  • Lead the planning and execution of affiliate-wide or affiliate-hosted, inter-departmental special events and conferences.
  • Oversee department procurement process and consultant contracts. Review consulting relationships annually with team leaders • Lead special projects, as assigned by the CFO.
  • Serve as a backup to the Executive Assistant and the Board Administrator as needed and appropriate

IT:

  • Serve as a liaison between the affiliate and National and between the affiliate and Logically (affiliate external IT vendor) on all IT related matters.
  • Manage and troubleshoot end-user requests and support issues in an Active Directory and Office 365 environment
  • Manage company issued mobile phones and BYOMD (bring your own mobile device) policies including mobile device management tools
  • Responsible for understanding all platforms used at the affiliate to assist end users in troubleshooting issues
  • Responsible for ordering computers and other workstation equipment and maintaining a database of affiliate’s equipment
  • Responsible for updating and managing the affiliate’s capital budget
  • Create positive support experiences for end-users and build strong relationships by communicating progress on user support issues, resolving or escalating issues in a timely manner and handling members of staff and external parties in a consummately professional manner
  • Follow up with staff, as needed, to ensure incidents are resolved and requests are filled.
  • Research and evaluate and inform the Leadership team of new technologies and solutions to respond to emerging issues, and keep current regarding new hardware and software products
  • Respond to inquiries from National staff
  • Travel as required to provide technical support to outside offices and at ACLU meetings and conferences
  • Engage in special projects and other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes

  • A minimum 5 years of professional work experience in operations and IT
  • Advance knowledge of Office 365 and mobile technologies
  • Effective communication skills and a great attention to detail
  • Experience working in a hybrid or remote settings
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated problem solving abilities
  • Ability to lift and carry IT hardware as needed
  • Previous experience in a social justice organization or in the non-profit sector
  • Master's Degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Skills to influence, motivate and engage others
  • Gravitas and grit
  • Exceptional customer service skill

COMPENSATION

The hiring range for this position is from $55,000 to $60,000, depending on experience. Excellent benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401K plan, paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave, and professional development opportunities.
