TEAM
Woven by Toyota develops, implements, and scales human-centered automated driving solutions for personal and commercial use. Our team is responsible for developing autonomy (perception, prediction, planning) technologies and its production software for the AD/ADAS system. To realize a fully reliable and highly functional system, we are tackling complex real-world problems utilizing large scale data, machine learning algorithms, and a variety of perception technologies.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
The expected candidate is self-motivated to find solutions to complex real-world problems, and makes an impact while contributing to a cross-functional team. You will combine cutting-edge technologies with robust safety standards while also considering cost efficiency. Also, you have patience to tackle the processes required for production development and approach them by asking "What can I do for you?" with a "Giver" mindset.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build and maintain the ML platform for perception, prediction and planner development, allowing numerous ML engineers to run ML model life cycles, deploying safe AD/ADAS to millions of vehicles.
  • Architect and maintain other repositories involved in building the in-house perception solution and production workflows.
  • Write, test, and ship software for desktop, embedded and cloud runtimes, and also design reliable software interfaces that balance simplicity, featurefulness and separation of concerns.
  • Review, design and code with other platform developers to facilitate rapid incremental improvements.
  • Come to our Nihonbashi office three days per week per our hybrid work policy
  • Report to our ML platform engineering leader

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in science or engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience developing and shipping production-level software.
  • Demonstrate computer science fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, design patterns) and software engineering best practices.
  • 5+ years working with UNIX-based systems (Linux or similar) and Python 3.
  • Experience training ML models with PyTorch or an equivalent ML framework/library.
  • 2+ years using modern systems programming languages (e.g. Rust, C++) and a modern build system (preferably Bazel), and systems-level debugging knowledge, in a professional environment
  • Experience with Docker and CI systems such as GitHub Actions.
  • Business-level proficiency in English, able to write technical documents (e.g. for software documentation).

NICE TO HAVES:

  • Experience with SIMD/SIMT parallelism, GPU programming, multithreading.
  • Experience in optimizing deep-learning models towards specific hardware targets.
  • Experience with AWS services.
  • Business-level proficiency in Japanese.
