Pay Range: $49,335.00 - $61,668.00 annual compensation

Workdays & Hours:  This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm; balancing office time with work in the businesses of the community.  This position may require working some weekends, nights, and holidays.

The City is seeking to fill multiple Senior Code Compliance Officer positions to be assigned to the Neighborhood Investigations.  These positions operate within The City of Fort Worth Code Compliance Department Neighborhood Investigations Division.    The Division addresses over 250,000 residential properties regarding zoning; property maintenance and other violations while still providing exceptional customer service to the citizens of Fort Worth. Additionally, this posting may be used to fill district Senior officer positions if they come available.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • High School diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training in code enforcement, building codes, zoning regulations or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience enforcing municipal ordinances, and code, animal care and control, animal welfare, or related experience depending on assignment.
  • Possession of a State of Texas Code Enforcement Officer License.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License
  • Candidate selected for hire must pass Pre-Employment Drug Screen, Physical and Criminal Background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Spanish/English bi-lingual skills
  • Public presentation experience
  • Experience with the following Microsoft Office applications-Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

The Sr. Code Compliance Officer’s job responsibilities include:

  • To oversee your own territory by investigating residential properties and enforcing the City of Fort Worth’s zoning, property maintenance, health and public nuisance ordinances.
  • To lead special projects and address critical and complex issues and high priority investigations while maintaining your assigned workload.
  • To attend civic and neighborhood association meetings to make public presentations, discuss issues and concerns, provide information and answer questions.
  • To be responsible for communicating well with city council, city staff and external customers in addition to your assigned team.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Heavy Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects
