Our client, a diversified American fabric maker, is seeking a Data Engineer.

Location: Hybrid, Charlotte, NC
Position Type: Full Time

Summary

The Data Engineer role reports to the Director of Data & Intelligence and is involved in all aspects of Data Warehouse Design and Development.
Responsibilities include Data Acquisition, Data Transformations, Data Modeling, Data Storage, and Data Visualization.
This role works with technical and business representatives to design business matrices, locate and acquire the data, and create relational and dimensional data models based off these matrices.
Once these data models are created, the Data Engineer creates the data solution to include fact and dimension tables necessary to fulfill business data needs.
This role is responsible for understanding the entire Business Intelligence Life Cycle and works with key business partners to deliver robust, sustainable, and timely data solutions to support business initiatives and KPIs.
This will require proven experience in Data Modelling, Database Design, ELT/ETL Design, Workflow Design, Automation, and the implementation of Data Transformations.

Experience and Education

This position requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Data Analytic, Information Systems, etc…), and at least 5 years of experience.
Technical Competencies: SQL Server, SQL Azure, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, SSMS, SSIS, SSRS, Power BI, and Data Modeling.
Core Competencies include Communication (both written and oral) skills and Problem-solving skills. ITIL, 6-Sigma, PMP, and other technical certifications are not required, but preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio, and Outlook a plus.

Responsibilities

Business Partnership: Meet with business customers to understand their needs and requests, to include data, timing, and purpose.
Solutioning: Ability to create a solution to meet the business customer's data needs and requirements.
Communication: Able to communicate technical solutions to both Business and IT professionals.
Organization: Create project plans to govern small projects for solution implementations.Data:
Data sources & mappings
Data extraction & data loads
Data transformations & validation
Data backups & recoveries
Data modeling & storage
Data queries & visualization
Administration: Provide administration as needed to support the data environments.
Support: Field calls and tickets regarding data and reporting questions from customers.
Performance Tuning: Analyze performance and perform tuning as needed.
Optimization: Perform Normalization/De-normalization as needed to aid in the data delivery aspects.
Reporting: Create Reports using Microsoft SSRS, Microsoft Power BI Report Builder and Microsoft Power BI.
MDX: Create Analytic Cubes / engage in Advanced Analytics efforts.
