<p>Due to our continued growth throughout 2024, OCU Group has a new opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Deeside. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of cost and contractual issues on projects. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, financial acumen, and excellent communication skills. You will play a critical role in ensuring that projects are delivered within budgetary constraints while meeting quality standards and client expectations.</p><p><strong>Duties and Responsibilities</strong><br></p><ol></ol><ul><li>Prepare accurate cost estimates for projects based on architectural drawings, specifications, and other relevant information.</li><li>Develop detailed project budgets, including materials, labor, equipment, and overhead costs.</li><li>Monitor project costs throughout the process and identify areas where costs can be optimised.</li><li>Manage the tendering process, including preparing tender documents, evaluating bids, and negotiating contracts with suppliers and subcontractors.</li><li>Source materials and services from suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring competitiveness and adherence to project requirements.</li><li>Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors to facilitate efficient procurement processes.</li><li>Administer contracts, including preparing contract documents, variations, and claims.</li><li>Ensure that contracts are executed in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as client specifications.</li><li>Monitor contract performance and resolve any disputes or issues that may arise during the construction phase.</li><li>Implement cost control measures to ensure that projects are delivered within budgetary constraints.</li><li>Track project expenditure and prepare regular cost reports and forecasts for project stakeholders.</li><li>Analyze cost variances and identify potential risks or opportunities that may impact project profitability.</li><li>Measure and quantify construction work using appropriate measurement methods.</li><li>Prepare accurate valuations of completed work for interim and final payments to contractors and subcontractors.</li><li>Verify and certify payments to ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.</li><li>Identify and assess risks associated with projects, including cost overruns, delays, and contractual disputes.</li><li>Develop risk mitigation strategies to minimize the impact of risks on project outcomes.</li><li>Collaborate with project teams to implement risk management measures and monitor their effectiveness.</li></ul><p><strong>Skills and Experience</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, construction management, or a related field.</li><li>Chartered status with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS/CICES) or working towards chartered status is preferred.</li><li>Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor or relevant experience in the construction industry.</li><li>Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement processes, and cost management principles.</li><li>Proficiency in quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office suite.</li><li>Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.</li><li>Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.</li><li>Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.</li></ul><p><strong>Company Background:</strong></p><p>Established in 1994, OCU Group is one of the fastest growing utility engineering contractors in the UK, with a long successful track record in delivering customer-focused civil engineering solutions.</p><p>Working directly with many of the country’s leading blue-chip power, water, telecoms, and rail clients, we are looking for the very best talent to join our growing team.</p><p>We pride ourselves on empowering our employees and offering opportunities for them to take control of their own personal development and career progression in a supportive environment.</p><p>We believe that being successful is a choice.</p><p>We choose to be successful.</p><p>We are OCU, ‘One Company United’.</p><p><strong>We celebrate difference and appreciate diverse backgrounds.
