What You’ll Accomplish:
- Lead the testing of integrated circuits (ICs) and/or subsystems as a primary duty.
- Design, build and test electronics solutions using your skills in analogue and digital circuit design together with industry-standard CAD packages and test equipment.
- Write the documentation of your electronics test circuits.
- Develop your experience in a broad range of electronics engineering subject areas.
- Maintain multidisciplinary collaboration with mechanical engineers, software engineers, and physicists, working towards a common goal.
- Play a key role in building test systems for quantum computers.
- Maintain UQs’ position in using state-of-the-art electronics solutions.
- Help in the planning and scheduling of projects, reporting progress and issues.
- Engage with project planning activities, risk management and scheduling requirements.
- Help with fast turn-around proof of concepts and feasibility discussions.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the firmware and software used to control quantum computers.
Requirements
The 3 Most Critical Attributes We’ll Use to Compare Candidates:
- Excellent knowledge of electronics circuit / IC theory and good EM field theory, including noise analysis and physical device knowledge from a testing point of view.
- PCB schematic and layout using CAD tools, good manufacturing process knowledge and excellent verification/debugging skills using electronics test equipment.
- Strong knowledge within the IC domain and integration within other electronics assemblies.
Must-have Skills:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in high-performance Electronics Design including IC, Digital, Analog and Embedded.
- Experience in PCB Design using ECAD (e.g., Altium, or similar).
- Use of spectrum analysers, oscilloscopes and VNA.
- Experience in FPGAs and embedded software engineering for real-time systems.
- Experience in working with suppliers and contractors.
- Demonstrate a strong discipline for thorough documentation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Team Player.
- At least 2.1 BEng/BSc Degree in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
Nice-to-have Skills:
- A background in RF engineering, Research, Metrology or instrumentation.
- Understanding of signal integrity, high-speed digital and EMC.
- Experience with C and/or scripting languages e.g., python and Matlab.
- Experience of Labview.
- Pragmatic approach to decision-making and design choices.
- Team and/or project management experience.
