We're looking for a seasoned Senior Manager of Factory Operations to lead our factory teams, oversee the production process from start to finish, and drive efficiency across departments. Factory Operations and Management:
- Oversee all aspects of factory operations:
- Cutting, sewing, quality control/assurance, finishing, packing and shipping
- Recruitment and training of associates with appropriate skill set across all departments
- Conduct time and cost study of all manufacturing process
- Oversee fabric testing, shrinkage and shade grouping
- Understanding of marking and grading process
- Ability to plan production flow and optimize productivity
- Constant evaluation of factory flow to achieve efficiency goals
- Partner with domestic production team to achieve (on time) product delivery goals
- Present and analyze actual product costs
- Strategize factory development and growth, alongside Chief of Supply Chain to determine short and long term plans
- Identify and build relationships with contractors to support production; such as contract C/M services & contract mechanic
People Management:
- Build culture around quality, pride in work, and sense of urgency across teams.
- Communicate core values of factory
- Create Job Descriptions for departmental roles
- Review associates performance
- Onboard new employees and contractors ensuring understanding of Paylocity usage, company policies, job duties
- Monitor daily schedules for punctuality, PTO, adherence to break schedule
- Monitor for adherence to Buck Mason policies & procedures including safety, dress code, cell phone usage
- Administer productivity incentive plan program for FT associates
- Manage communications across bilingual associate population
- Conduct individual TBs every 6 weeks; follow through on action items from TBs
- Track individual performance & coach teams on strategies to grow & improve
- Maintain spreadsheet of weekly numbers for individual sewing and QC associates
- Act as a resource to team regarding benefits, payroll questions, incentive programs, leave of absence, etc
Facilities:
- Develop safety plans, ensure adherence of factory to OSHA standards
- Including but not limited to fire safety plans & training, annual elevator inspections, HVAC maintenance & air quality improvements, pest management
- Point person for building related issues that arise such as power outages, local floods, fire
- Oversee maintenance & repairs of machines and facilities; coordinate with service providers & follow up until service is complete
- Manage service provider invoices & accts payable communications
Qualifications:
- At least 10 years of running, leading an apparel manufacturing operations or in similar role
- Experienced and knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control standards, production planning
- Knowledge of machinery, equipment maintenance, and the latest manufacturing technologies is preferable
- Strong leadership and management skills,
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
