Figma is growing our team of passionate people on a mission to make design accessible to all. Born on the Web, Figma helps entire product teams brainstorm, design and build better products — from start to finish. Whether it’s consolidating tools, simplifying workflows, or collaborating across teams and time zones, Figma makes the design process faster, more efficient, and fun while keeping everyone on the same page. From great products to long-lasting companies, we believe that nothing great is made alone—come make with us!

Figma is looking for a creative self-starter with sharp news judgment and extensive experience leading in-house communications teams to drive and implement our product, corporate, talent and consumer PR efforts in EMEA, APAC and (eventually) LATAM. The Director, International Communications will report directly to the head of global communications and be responsible for bringing sustained focus and strong management to Figma’s PR efforts outside the United States.

This role will lead a small but impactful team of regional comms leads and work closely with partners in marketing, sales and support to drive awareness for Figma in priority markets outside the United States. It is a new position in a late-stage but fast-growing startup, so the right person will have the opportunity to shape and run with it. English fluency is a must, as is shown and recent experience leading teams or agencies across the EMEA/APAC region for an established company or fast-growing startup. As a product that helps teams build things together, we will prioritize candidates who’ve shown they’re capable of thinking creatively, working collaboratively, and moving mountains to get things done.

This is a full time role in London, UK.

What you'll do:

  • Help shape Figma’s International PR strategy from concept to planning to execution. This includes everything from refining our localized messaging to running executive briefings to crafting big-picture campaigns and writing one-off story pitches.
  • Build and lead a small but hard-working global team of regional comms professionals (FTEs + agencies) to help tell Figma’s story internally and externally. As a manager of people, you’ll be expected to serve as player-coach for members of your team while motivating them and agency partners to get results.
  • Work with cross-functional partners to help the press and product teams in non-US markets understand why Figma is a platform for teams that design and build digital products together.
  • Work with EMEA marketing, sales, support and others to identify breakthrough stories and trends that differentiate Figma’s products in the eyes of the press and potential customers.
  • Identify, develop and deepen relationships with reporters at high-priority publications across EMEA. You’ll be expected to spend a significant amount of time scanning the news and finding the right reporters to pitch for a steady stream of story placements.
  • Grow. You’ll be expected to stretch yourself and own your development, with the goal of growing your leadership within the broader marketing team and the company as a whole.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • At least 15 years of in-house experience at fast-growing companies.
  • A consistent record building in-house regional PR teams and programs from scratch.
  • Extensive experience building and leading successful teams, including FTEs and agencies
  • Are a quick learner with a knack for breaking down complex concepts

While not required, it’s an added plus if you also have:

  • If you can wonk out on design, software development and/or cloud-native applications.
  • Are comfortable working in fast-growing, fast-paced companies where “figuring it out” is more important than “sticking to the process,” especially when a process doesn’t exist.
  • Have a passion for creative storytelling and an aversion for cookie-cutter PR tactics. You won’t find press releases at Figma. We’re looking for unexpected ways to break through.
At Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go. We believe in hiring smart, curious people who are excited to learn and develop their skills. If you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with the points outlined in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
