Quick take: Axios is a media company dedicated to providing trustworthy, award-winning news content in an audience-first format. We are looking for a DC-based, commercially-minded, customer-centric and innovative account manager to help us retain and grow B2B customers for Axios Pro, our paid subscription product.
Why it matters: The Account Manager will be responsible for managing a high volume of customers, which will include managing customer relationships, driving subscriber engagement and leading renewal and expansion sales processes.
Go deeper: Ideal candidates will be commercially-minded, highly organized and attentive to detail, active listeners, and customer centric. Responsibilities include:
- Manage the post-sale customer relationship, from onboarding through renewal and expansion for a large volume of accounts
- Lead the annual renewal process for customers with high retention and growth in mind
- Grow existing contracts by identifying opportunities to add additional licenses and products and execute strategic sales conversations
- Strategize outreach campaigns, identify qualified prospects and generate tailored communications and cold calls
- Provide subject matter expertise about Axios Pro and present the value of our product to customers in update calls and prospects during the evaluation process
- Develop engagement strategies to increase utilization throughout subscription term
- Collaborate with revenue, editorial, product and events teams to influence our corporate partnership strategy and product roadmap based on customer feedback
- Log all customer outreach, feedback and activity within the relevant tools and systems

- Demonstrated experience in a client-facing role within a revenue team
- Customer-centric mindset with strong commercial instincts
- High proficiency in relationship building and relationship management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Strong time management skills and an ability to prioritize effectively
- Strong project management skills and sales fundamentals
- Experience managing top-of-funnel sales pipelines including researching, prospecting leads, outbound outreach, and organizing inbound interest
- Ability to be adaptable and creative as the Axios Pro team and product grows
- Willingness to come to the Arlington office at least 2 days week
Starting salary for this role is in the range of $75,000 - $95,000 and is dependent on numerous factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, and skills. This range does not include other compensation and benefits.
Note that the total compensation offered for this role includes a sales incentive component, which is contingent upon the successful achievement of predetermined sales targets. This incentive is not included in the listed starting salary for this role.
