MUST HAVE: Direct response copywriting expertise, writing video scripts, and leveraging performance metrics to influence copywriting decisions

EXPERIENCE: 4+ years copywriting experience with an emphasis on direct response across a variety of paid channels (Facebook, Google, YouTube, Email, etc.)

YOUR ROLE

As a Senior Direct Response Copywriter at FinanceBuzz, you'll write snappy, performance-driven copy that will be seen by over 44 million readers daily across various paid channels. As part of our mission to democratize financial independence, you'll play an integral role by educating our audience about the various financial products and services our advertisers offer.

To succeed in this role, you need to be a multitasker who can juggle multiple tasks without getting overwhelmed. You excel working with multiple teams, can easily pivot between changing priorities, and have a passion for data. You can think holistically about how your copy is presented to our audience, especially when crafting video scripts and shot lists. You're also not afraid to speak up, share your ideas, and ask questions when you need help.

When it comes to wordsmithing, you're a confident writer who produces clean copy and turns drafts in quickly. You use learnings and feedback to craft messages that deliver the desired business results (clicks, conversions, etc.) You enjoy diving into the data to inform your creative choices, crafting new copy tests, and reporting to the team on actionable insights.

You'll work across a range of personal finance topics, combining an understanding of audience intent with product and compliance knowledge to create copy that both informs and performs. Bonus points if you can make insurance and debt relief sound electrifying.  

In short, your goal is to write clear, concise, performance-oriented copy in the FinanceBuzz style and tone across all our marketing platforms, including:

  • Paid video ads
  • Paid social
  • Paid search
  • Email
  • SMS
  • Push notifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of experience in copywriting, preferably for paid channels, with 2+ years of  experience with direct response and 1+ years of experience writing video scripts
  • Practice writing for a variety of paid channels, including Facebook, Google, YouTube, and email 
  • Experience with different copy mediums, including ad copy, emails, and landing page copy, but especially with video scripts
  • Understanding of performance metrics and the ability to use data to influence creative decisions
  • Online portfolio with recent work samples
  • Experience writing about financial services or technology is a plus
