Employment Specialist perform a variety of functions related to vocational rehabilitation.  Functions may include roles such as supervising vocational employees in the drop-in center, donations/food bank program, benefits acquisition, and similar activities.  Responsible for rehabilitation activities which support consumers who want social interaction, work adjustment training, and skill training for volunteer assignments or work experiences.

Pay Range & Benefits:

 VC I - 27.35/hr 

 VC II - $27.85/hr 

VC III - $28.89/hr

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Complete comprehensive vocational assessments, utilizing aptitude, interest and other assessment tools.
  • Develop individualized training plans for consumers in the vocational/rehabilitation program.
  • Coordination of consumer’s activities at assigned work stations/sites at MHCD or outside employers.
  • Monitor consumer progresses and activities with consumers, documenting services provided.
  • Coordinate services and support with primary treatment clinicians.
  • Complete timely and accurate consumer data, reports and clinical documentation as required.
  • Participate in pre-vocational partial care services.
  • Conduct rehabilitative, and goal-oriented educational opportunities.
  • Plan and facilitate social activities within the community and with the program.
  • Coordinate care between the rehabilitation department and the clinical team.
  • Complete consumer data, reports, and clinical documentation as required.
  • Maintain a trauma informed environment of wellbeing.
  • Perform duties as assigned which help consumers work toward employment and recovery.

Requirements & Qualifications:       

Vocational Counselor I

  • GED or High School Diploma
  • One year of experience in a vocational rehabilitation setting or experience with specific duties of this position is preferred.

Vocational Counselor II

  • Bachelor degree in rehabilitation or related field; and,
  • One year of experience in a vocational rehabilitation setting or experience with specific duties of this position is preferred.

Vocational Counselor III

  • Masters degree in vocational rehabilitation or related field; with one year of experience in a vocational rehabilitation setting or experience with specific duties of this position is preferred.
  • Or, Bachelors degree in rehabilitation or related field and three years vocational experience, or experience related to specific job duties.

 

Certifications: Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner or willingness to obtain certification within one year.

Tuberculosis (TB) screening, testing - TB screening and testing, is required and must be completed prior to hire ( i.e., preplacement), and maintained during employment
