We are currently seeking a Test and Validation – UI Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in user interface (UI) testing for PC applications, automation, and hardware validation. This role involves developing test solutions, building simulation rigs, and validating product functionality through software and hardware tests. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with test equipment, electrical components, and automation frameworks to ensure product quality and performance. This position works in a team environment at our home office in Newburgh, IN. This is not a remote position.
This position reports to the Test and Validation Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
- User Interface Testing & Automation:
- Perform manual and automated UI testing for PC-based applications.
- Use tools to record and automate test cases for repeatable validation.
- Generate comprehensive reports on testing results, identifying issues and recommendations.
- Utilize Microsoft UI Automation (UIA) API for automated testing (preferred).
- Simulation & Hardware Validation:
- Design and build simulation rigs to verify product detection and response systems.
- Develop testing solutions using sensors, actuators, solenoids, and other components.
- Validate motion detection capabilities, ensuring the product recognizes and interprets movement correctly.
- Electrical and Signal Monitoring:
- Inject generator voltage into Devices Under Test (DUT) and verify response outputs, such as relay switches.
- Use test equipment, including Digital Multimeters (DMM), oscilloscopes, power supplies, and electronic loads, to analyze performance.
- Networking & Security Setup:
- Configure and validate basic networking and security systems to ensure proper connectivity and data flow.
- Sensor Functionality & Circuit Testing:
- Test and validate sensor performance (e.g., photosensors, thermocouples, and strain gauges).
- Design and test basic loop circuits for control feedback systems.
- Work with a variety of transducers and actuators, including thermistors, RTDs, and microphones, to verify operation.
- Signal Conditioning & Data Acquisition (DAQ):
- Apply signal conditioning techniques such as amplification, filtering, and isolation to ensure accurate measurements.
- Set up and configure DAQ interfaces, managing AC/DC coupling and transducer excitation.
Qualifications & Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in software or hardware testing roles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills to convey test results clearly.
- Proactive and self-driven, with the ability to identify and resolve issues independently.
- Required Skills:
- Experience with PC-based UI application testing.
- Familiarity with automated testing tools and scripting test cases.
- Hands-on experience with test equipment, including:
- DMMs, oscilloscopes, AC/DC power supplies, and electronic loads.
- Understanding of sensor functionality and working with components like voltage dividers, CTs, and shunts
- Knowledge of signal conditioning principles and DAQ systems.
- Experience with basic networking and security setup.
- Desired Skills:
- LabVIEW programming experience and familiarity with National Instruments DAQ systems.
- Knowledge of Microsoft UI Automation (UIA) API for test automation.
