We are looking to add a Principal Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT) Engineer I for Mechanical Ground Systems Support Equipment (MGSE) to our team, supporting daily work in the lab and cleanroom for AI&T operations.  If you are excited about working in a dynamic environment and are passionate about developing critical test systems for leading-edge satellite, spacecraft, and aerospace communication systems, we would like to hear from you.  

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop requirements, designs, and/or on-going support for mechanical ground support equipment (GSE).
  • Lead the mechanical ground support equipment & tool development and deployment to support assembly, integration, and test of spacecraft systems and components, including lifting equipment, working platforms, assembly fixtures, test fixtures, jigs, or aids.
  • Ownership for delivering GSE for production use, up to and including assembly, testing, and training on the appropriate use of the equipment/tooling.
  • Support the development of production, assembly, and test flow and concepts of operation, especially concerning required GSE and Tooling.
  • Work with Program Management to build AI&T schedules to feed the IMS – coordination for schedules, risks and budgets for test fixtures, and MGSE designs.
  • Work with System Engineering to develop requirements V&V test plans and maintain requirements verification test matrix.
  • Support coordination of spacecraft AI&T and launch operations effort (including the sequence of activities, required facilities, special test equipment, personnel, schedule, risks, and opportunities).
  • Provide estimates for both execution of existing work and for changes in scope.
  • Identify creative solutions to reduce the cost, schedule, and risk of AI&T.
  • Develop and execute integration/test procedures on flight hardware/software to support spacecraft development.
  • Execute acceptance/qualification testing activities including, but not limited to, vibration, acoustic, shock, propulsion static fires, and thermal vacuum testing.
  • Lead and participate in integration and test readiness reviews along with post-operational briefings.
  • Analyze, document, and present integration and test data to support verification activities.
  • Support managing of inventory of tools, GSE, flight, and non-flight spacecraft components.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in aerospace, mechanical, or related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 9 years experience including prior significant roles on spacecraft or related systems assembly, integration and test operations. 
  • Must have prior experience in multiple stages of satellite and component development including early design for test, test operations, and operational missions.
  • Experience in requirements management, system design, integration, and test.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language such as Python, willingness to learn new ones.
