System Lead - Landing Gear System

 The Role:

We are looking for an outstanding engineering leader with a strong background in Landing Gear design to join our innovative team and help us shape the future of urban e-mobility.

In this position, you will have the exciting opportunity to lead a multidisciplinary team and take over responsibility in the complete development cycle of a major aircraft system. You will be part of the multi-disciplinary Structures and Interior Integrated Project Team and report directly to the Head of Structures & Interior Design.

Your Day to Day:

• Full responsibility of the complete Landing Gear System, including tires and wheel & brake system, through the complete development cycle.
• Responsible for hiring, training and development of your direct reporting line consisting of a multi-disciplinary team of structural design, stress, and system engineers.
• Managing the suppliers for the landing gear system, ensuring technical and program goals.
• Managing the interface to the Airframe in collaboration with the Airframe team
• Ensure timely design releases, design modifications, and meet the production requirements.
• Support the production organization as Design Organization representative responsible for the Fuselage system.
• Planning and managing all technical activities within your team and in coordination with the Head of Structure & Interior Design.
• Support the Type Certification of the Landing Gear System.
• Support the Head of Structures & Interior Design and your peers in the Engineering Leadership of the Project team in the development and optimization of applicable tools, methods and processes.

Your profile:

• Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field is required.
• 10+ years of professional experience working on Landing Gear Systems or similar systems
• Multiple years in an engineering leadership role.
• Excellent understanding of applicable stress & fatigue methods, including analytical and numerical solvers, is recommended.
• Understanding of applicable certification rules, ideally SC. VTOL or CS23/CS27, and the corresponding compliance demonstration.
• In-depth understanding of the design principles and loading scenarios of Landing Gear Structures.
• Strong knowledge of Siemens NX or similar CAD software is required.
• Basic knowledge of ISO GPS (alternatively ASME GD&T) is required.
• Basic knowledge of PDM/PLM systems (Teamcenter or equivalent) is required.
• High level of self-reliance and an autonomous target-oriented work style.
• Fluent English language skills are essential, fluent German or any other language would be beneficial.
