Teamworking for the planet

We are OVO’s award-winning charity, supported by OVO and our customers. From reducing schools’ energy bills to planting Tiny Forests; we are a small and mighty team thanks to our brilliant partnerships. In 2023, we helped over 20,000 children and young people to access nature, climate action and education.

 

This role in a nutshell:

Our Trustees provide strategic steer and key decision-making to make sure we’re delivering on our objectives. They get together 4 times a year, once a quarter, to prepare and attend board meetings, and discuss any other matters about the charity. This includes a strategy day at the start of each year. You’ll also advise on particular subjects related to your areas of interest or expertise outside of these meetings. Being a trustee with OVO Foundation puts you in a unique position as you get to develop skills you wouldn’t necessarily access in other roles, and learn from and work with people from all walks of life.

 

Your key outcomes will be:

We’re looking for two new Trustees to join us: a Treasurer and a Youth Trustee (aged 18-30)

 

For the Treasurer role:

We’re looking for someone to oversee OVO Foundation’s financial processes and make sure we have robust and effective controls in place. You will be an established finance professional with the ability to analyse and understand basic financial statements, in order to maintain a strategic overview of OVO Foundation’s financial resources. You should be a whizz with spreadsheets and financial modelling, and be able to scrutinise budgets.

 

For the Youth Trustee role:

We’re looking for someone aged 18-30 who is committed to increasing access to nature, improving climate education, and ensuring opportunities to take action on the climate crisis – for all children and young people. You’ll have current experience with the education system in the UK but you don’t need previous trustee experience, as you’ll get a buddy from our Board who’ll support you as you develop and build knowledge of OVO Foundation. 

As an OVO Foundation Trustee, you’ll:

• Make sure our charity is fulfilling its promises and purposes for the communities we support
• Check that we’re always following the law, as well as our own governing document
• Work in the best interests of OVO Foundation
• Effectively manage our resources
• Use your unique skills and experience to help us meet our objectives
• Represent OVO Foundation at external events
