As the Sample Licensing Analyst you will report to the VP, BA Admin:
What you'll do:
- Evaluate and accurately identify samples uses as embodied in artist recordings across various genres and labels.
- Report identified samples, providing detailed information on how the source materials are used in SME's new recordings.
- Assist in tracking upcoming releases related to samples and other third-party materials.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather the necessary information related to sample clearances.
- Maintain and update databases, ensuring all information is current and accurate.
- Support the preparation and distribution of clearance status reports to relevant teams, including royalties and Sony Music’s document retention system.
- Provide administrative support in coordinating internal and external approvals related to sample clearances.
Who you are:
- Bachelor’s degree in music business, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in music licensing, copyright law, or related roles, preferably with a focus on sample clearance.
- Basic understanding of music licensing, copyright law, and clearance processes.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with music industry software and databases.

The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
