VFX Artist (Unannounced Project)

Job Overview

Based in Guildford, DPS Games is looking for a skilled generalist Real-Time VFX Artist to assist in the creation of Ambient Environmental VFX and Gameplay VFX for the next big free-to-play title from Wargaming, the company that brought us World of Tanks and one of the strongest free-to-play PC game companies in the world.

In this role you will work as part of the VFX Team creating FX to dress levels and environments, and support Design teams with Gameplay FX, Game Mode FX, and others as needed.

In this position you will be working within a multidisciplinary team of developers in a global community and will have the ability to both share your hard-earned knowledge and continue to develop your skill set by learning from your teammates.

 

Reports to

You will report to the Lead VFX Artist

 

What will you do?

• Collaborate with the FX team, designers, and programmers on FX creation and implementation

• Work with Unreal Engine 5 + Niagara

• Work in close collaboration with the FX Team and Art Director to ensure quality standards are progressed and maintained

• Create, update and maintain Textures, Shaders and Particle Systems for FX

What are we looking for?

• A strong understanding of Real-Time VFX principles

• A strong understanding of visual language and affordance

• Strong technical and performance knowledge of VFX

• Strong knowledge of typical VFX workflows in Unreal Engine 4+ and a proficiency using the Niagara Particle Editor

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to take critique and provide feedback internally and externally in a professional manner

• Solid knowledge of 3D Modelling packages (3ds Max, Maya, Blender)

• Solid knowledge of Photoshop/GIMP

What additional skills will help you stand out?

• Experience using Houdini to create game assets

• Blueprint Scripting ability

• Concept skills – Ability to visualize, concept, and find solid reference images of FX before starting a task
