Who we are looking for:
Phoenix Tailings is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing the mechanical systems integral to our clean metals production process. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of hands-on engineering expertise and leadership experience, driving mechanical solutions that push the boundaries of sustainable and innovative metals production.
We are looking for a proactive, solution-oriented engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is excited to take a lead role in high-impact projects. At Phoenix Tailings, we strongly encourage women and underrepresented groups in engineering to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical systems: Take responsibility for designing and optimizing mechanical systems critical to high-temperature processes such as molten salt electrolysis and solvent extraction.
- Generate technical schematics and CAD designs: Create detailed CAD drawings and system layouts for production systems.
- Mechanical testing and validation: Oversee the testing and validation of mechanical systems, ensuring they meet design specifications and operational requirements.
- System optimization:Continuously improve mechanical systems to enhance performance, reliability, and sustainability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work with engineering, R&D, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs into the overall production process.
- Mentorship:Provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative engineering culture.
- Project management:Manage mechanical engineering projects from design through to implementation, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in mechanical design for high-temperature systems or process engineering.
- Expertise in CAD software and technical schematic creation.
- Strong understanding of mechanical stress analysis and thermal dynamics.
- Experience in prototyping, testing, and iterating mechanical systems.
- Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- A passion for sustainability and innovative solutions in metals production.
