(Senior) Android Developer - Point of Sale, Kiosk Squad

The SumUp Point of Sale is one of the fastest growing product lines at SumUp. One of our goals is to create unique and efficient ways for consumers to buy goods and services, from QR-code-based pay-at-table solutions to large touchscreen kiosks.

About the role

As a (Senior) Android Developer you will be working on our SumUp Kiosk android application.  You will be part of a small cross-functional team of talented people imagining the future of payments.

To be successful in this role you should be a product-focused engineer, passionate about understanding the problem domain and improving the product for merchants.

You should be open to constantly learning and improving your craft. It will be expected from you to not only ship features, but also to contribute to the decision making process.

The role is based on-site in our office in London. We believe in the power of face-to-face conversations that happen organically when working next to one another.

What you’ll do 🏃‍♀️

• Lead and deliver key and impactful features of the android app for Kiosk
• Understand the SumUp SuperApp repo, and deepen the integrations between our POS Lite SuperApp and the Kiosk
• Help expand the kiosk into new markets and territories around the globe
• Pair program, share knowledge and mentor others in the team on good coding practices
• Proactively spot technical issues and recommend solutions to improve the reliability, security and maintainability of the codebase

• You're comfortable with Kotlin and the Android framework.
• You love building great products quickly and delighting customers
• You enjoy working on large-scale Android projects.
• You have Experience integrating SDKs and APIs into Android apps.
• You have good writing skills and you’re able to communicate your ideas and designs effectively.
• You know what to test, why to test it, and how to write flexible tests that won't break.
• You care about user interaction, usability and of course, making beautiful user experiences.
